Warsaw, Poland – September 5th, 2024 – The Frostpunk 2 team has released the final episode of the City Unbound development diary series, showcasing a major new feature: multiple colonies. This addition raises the stakes for survival as Frostpunk 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed city-builder, introduces expansive gameplay where players will manage not just one city, but several colonies across the frozen wasteland.
Multiple Colonies: Expanding the Fight for Survival
"Multiple colonies will function similarly to cities, with their own economy, logistics, and population," said Lukasz Juszczyk and Jakub Stokalski, game directors. Players will need to relocate a portion of New London's citizens to establish these colonies. While New London retains control over these outposts—without independent voting or delegation—each colony requires careful management. These colonies, when well-managed, can become essential production hubs, specializing in vital resources like food or oil extraction.
This new dynamic expands the challenge for players, pushing them to balance the needs of both New London and its outposts, ensuring survival is never guaranteed.
Release Date and Early Access
Frostpunk 2 will launch on PC on September 20, 2024, with early access available through the Digital Deluxe edition starting September 17th. This special edition will also include access to three unannounced DLCs and exclusive in-game content. The game will be available on day one through PC Game Pass, with a console release planned for the future.
