Unlike on-rails shooters, Metal Hellsinger VR offers full freedom of movement—jump, shoot, and battle your way through hordes of demons in a chaotic, yet rewarding rhythm-based experience. The soundtrack is incredible, with intense metal tracks that elevate the gameplay, making every successful rhythm-based shot feel empowering. The later levels ramp up in intensity, adding a layer of challenge and chaotic fun.

Playing on normal difficulty, I found some levels to be challenging, though I typically play rhythm games like Beat Saber and Synth Riders. If you're not used to the rhythm-based gameplay, easier difficulties are available, allowing the game to feel more like a traditional shooter. However, you miss out on the full reward system when the rhythm mechanics are turned off, which could make the later levels harder.

Important Note on VR Experience:

As a Meta Quest 2 owner and frequent VR player, I can say this game requires your "VR legs." For newcomers to VR or those prone to motion sickness, the fast-paced action, intense visuals, and frenetic metal music might be overwhelming. Take your time to adjust to the game, especially if you're new to the platform. I found it best to play standing up, as the action requires you to quickly turn around and move. Sitting might be difficult unless you have a backless, rotating stool—and even then, be careful!

Graphics & Performance:

On the Meta Quest 3, Metal Hellsinger VR is visually stunning. Some VR game ports can feel lackluster, but it's clear the developers put a lot of effort into this version. The game also includes solid accessibility options, such as segmented or continuous turning (though blinders can't be disabled during turning). The calibration options for rhythm and visual delay are especially thoughtful, allowing players to sync their shots with the music even if using wireless headphones.

Gameplay & Story:

Though the focus is on the action, the game includes a story mode narrated through flashbacks, with strong voice acting that adds some depth without interrupting the intense gameplay. The lore unfolds between levels, giving a nice breather while keeping the focus on demon-slaying action.

Final Thoughts:

Metal Hellsinger VR is an excellent addition to any VR library, especially for those who love rhythm-based games or fast-paced shooters. It's a fully realized game, not just an experience, and it's evident the developers put a lot of love into this port. The replayability is high, and it's easy to get hooked once you get into the flow of the music. If you're on the fence, listen to the soundtrack—it'll give you a taste of the adrenaline-fueled demon-slaying chaos that awaits.
