Over the past few months, I've seen firsthand how bad the situation has gotten with giveaways, review keys, and key reselling.
What started as a few isolated incidents has now become something much bigger — and much worse.

Squad 44 Rolls Out 'Reign of Steel' Update: New Vehicles, Frontline Mode, and Enhanced Combat Await
Today marks a significant expansion for the beloved military shooter Squad 44, as Offworld & Mercury Arts release their most substantial update yet—Reign of Steel. This update not only broadens the game's arsenal with an impressive array of new vehicles and anti-tank guns, including the formidable Sturer Emil, M36 Jackson, and the Sherman Jumbo (M4A3E2), but it also introduces innovative in-game mechanics to elevate the warfare experience.
Enhanced Combat Mechanics
With the Reign of Steel update, Squad 44 players can now man machine gun turrets on tanks and other vehicles, adding a layer of strategic depth and defensive capability. Additionally, infantry troops can hitch rides on tanks, allowing for swift squad movement across the expansive battlefields, transforming how logistics and troop deployment are handled during intense skirmishes.
New Game Mode: Frontline
The update debuts the Frontline game mode, a blend of the best features from Invasion, Offensive, and RAAS modes. In Frontline, attackers push the battle line forward by completing a series of objectives that range from capturing posts to destroying strategic assets. As each objective is completed, subsequent missions are randomized and undisclosed to the attackers, creating dynamic and unpredictable gameplay. This mode emphasizes the need for strategic planning and real-time adaptation, providing a fresh and engaging challenge to the Squad 44 community.
Graphical and Quality of Life Enhancements
The Reign of Steel doesn't stop at gameplay but extends to significant quality-of-life improvements. These include a major upgrade in graphical fidelity and enhancements to the Arnhem Range—Squad 44's in-game training area where players refine their skills with an extensive selection of weaponry.
Dedicated to Historical Accuracy
Squad 44 continues to impress with its commitment to historical accuracy and realism. The game features meticulously recreated battlefields based on archival research, from street-level photographs to aerial reconnaissance. Players can engage in battles representing five main factions—German, American, British, Greek, and French forces—with access to over 50 historically accurate vehicles and a comprehensive arsenal reflective of World War 2 armaments.
