Tales Unveils Revolutionary Gaming AI, Enabling Users to Build and Play Custom Games Instantly
PALO ALTO — October 16, 2024 — AI startup Tales has today unveiled its debut product, a Large World Model (LWM) that empowers users to create fully functional games through simple text-to-game prompts. This groundbreaking technology promises to revolutionize the gaming world by enabling users to rapidly generate playable games without any need for development skills, thus lowering barriers for aspiring creators.
Unlike traditional development processes, Tales' LWM allows for the creation of user-generated, interactive, and immersive experiences by leveraging crowdsourced data, resources, and infrastructure. This approach not only competes with the world's leading studios but also fosters a collaborative environment where the community contributes to the development of Sia, one of the most ambitious AI models to date.
Revolutionizing Game Creation with Text Prompts
Building on the foundation laid by chatbots such as ChatGPT and Claude, which are powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) that process and generate text, Tales has developed its own LWM specifically designed for video game creation. This model is capable of comprehending and generating all components of a video game—from environments and 3D models to gameplay footage and NPC behavior—complete with detailed metadata.
The LWM learns from gameplay data, video content, 3D assets, descriptive metadata, and ongoing feedback, enhancing its understanding of game structures and its ability to create complex game elements and mechanics. With just a simple text prompt, such as "make a first-person shooter in space," the LWM can generate a customizable and immediately playable game, effectively serving as a tool for procedurally generating games in real-time.
Beyond Gaming: VR Worlds and Educational Tools
The capabilities of Tales' LWM extend beyond traditional games, opening possibilities for creating virtual reality worlds, interactive experiences, and immersive educational tools. "Tales truly feels like something out of a sci-fi film, and we can't wait to make it a reality," said Jason Krupat, Head of Product. "The gaming industry is in desperate need of a revolution, and by putting the power to create in the hands of gamers, we're starting a new era of entertainment that goes far beyond conventional games."
Community Collaboration and Learning In what is considered one of the most ambitious crowdsourced projects in history, Tales utilizes community-contributed data, storage, and computational power to train its LWM. A rewards-based incentive system encourages users to submit gameplay footage, in-game assets, and extensive environment descriptions, creating a fully transparent dataset that is meticulously tracked and documented to ensure provenance and preserve privacy.
"The systems of the future demand robust infrastructure and data solutions, posing unique challenges," said Viktor Uzunov, Head of Community. "By bootstrapping the collective power of what could become one of the fastest-growing tech communities, we're challenging the biggest names in the industry."
