“HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror” Set to Terrify Gamers This Valentine’s Day

Posted on January 12, 2025June 25, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

This Valentine’s Day, forget flowers and chocolates—“HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror” wants to test your courage instead. Launching February 14, 2025, on Steam, this title by indie developer Airem promises a spine-tingling experience that blends urban legend, psychological horror, and survival mechanics in one haunting maze of terror.

A Journey into the Unknown

In “HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror”, you play as an amateur photographer visiting a newly opened museum that pays homage to internet creepypasta legends. Among its exhibits is “The Forgotten Halls,” a painting with a reputation for housing disturbing secrets. As you explore, reality begins to distort and dissolve, drawing you into a shifting labyrinth where danger lurks behind every corner—and not everything is as it seems.

Innovative Gameplay Mechanics

Rather than offering standard flashlights or torches, HorrorCore puts your survival in the hands of a camera flash. This fleeting pulse of light both reveals horrors and guides your path, but leaves you in overwhelming darkness the rest of the time. It’s a core mechanic that ratchets up the tension and demands careful timing and decision-making. Do you dare take another photo, not knowing what might appear in the flash?

Dual Game Modes for Diverse Horror Preferences

The game features two different gameplay modes, though specific details are still under wraps. Expect each to offer a unique take on fear, letting players tailor the experience to their comfort—or discomfort—levels. Whether you enjoy calculated tension or chaotic terror, HorrorCore seems built to haunt you either way.

Upcoming Exclusive Interview with Airem

I recently sat down with the team behind Airem for an exclusive interview. We talked about the inspirations that birthed HorrorCore, how they built fear into every mechanic, and what it’s like developing a psychological horror game in today’s indie scene.

Will You Survive the Darkness?

HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror dares you to step into the dark this February 14th. If you’re ready to explore the “Forgotten Halls,” face chilling illusions, and survive with only a flash, this one’s for you.
