Cartel Pilots Wanted turns sketchy cargo runs into a chaotic co-op flight sim

Posted on April 22, 2026May 6, 2026 By Aidan Minter

OldYacht’s newly announced co-op pilot job sim mixes shady cargo runs, tropical island flights, and just enough chaos to make it stand out straight away.

OldYacht has announced Cartel Pilots Wanted, a co-op pilot job sim set in a tropical archipelago controlled by a cartel, where players take on risky smuggling contracts, move questionable cargo, and gradually work their way up to better aircraft. There already seems to be a real appetite for unusual job sim concepts, and this looks like another project with a clear hook. If that kind of niche sim is already your lane, you might also want to check our earlier coverage of Cash Cleaner Simulator.

The setup is simple, but it has personality. You and your friends wake up on a remote island now under cartel control, and your route forward is to take to the skies, delivering sketchy cargo between sun-drenched islands, hidden coves, and rough landing spots. The reveal material points to accessible flight handling, co-op smuggling, plane upkeep, custom liveries, pilot customisation, and weather conditions that can quickly turn a routine run into a mess. For games like this, early momentum still matters, something we recently touched on in our piece on why Steam Next Fest planning still matters.

A low-flying aircraft and a quiet beach strip help sell Cartel Pilots Wanted’s tropical smuggling setup.

That combination is what gives Cartel Pilots Wanted its hook. It is not just trying to be a straight flying sim, and it is not leaning entirely on management either. Instead, it seems to sit somewhere in between, using the fantasy of low-level criminal logistics and rough-and-ready island aviation to carve out its own lane. If the handling feels good and the co-op tension lands the way the trailer suggests, this could be one of those games that spreads fast simply because the concept sells itself.

Co-op play, suspect fashion choices, and a rough island airstrip all fit the game’s shady laid-back tone.

There is still a lot we do not know yet, especially when it comes to how deep the management side really goes. Right now, the strongest signals are cargo handling, plane maintenance, visual customisation, and the co-op fantasy of trying to keep increasingly fragile-looking aircraft in the air while flying for dangerous employers. That may be more than enough if OldYacht can keep the loop satisfying and give players room to create memorable disasters with friends.

It also helps that the setting has immediate appeal. Tropical islands, hidden routes, seaplanes, microlights, worsening weather, and a cartel-run backdrop give the whole thing a slightly absurd but very readable identity. In a crowded indie space, that clarity matters. Cartel Pilots Wanted already looks like the kind of game that can catch attention quickly because it knows exactly what fantasy it is selling.

Tropical storms look like they could turn a straightforward run into a very different kind of problem.
