Ultrawide Greats: Our Road to 20 Excellent 32:9 Games

Posted on August 3, 2026August 9, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Four games have earned a place so far

The goal is simple: find 20 PC games that genuinely look and feel excellent at 5120×1440 on a 32:9 super-ultrawide monitor.

Ultrawide Greats begins with four very different games: a brutal first-person shooter, a colorful open-world RPG, an atmospheric action adventure, and a tactical open-world shooter. This article will grow whenever another qualifying gameplay video is published.

The numbers show the publication order, not a ranking. Unlike our earlier Top 10 Super Ultrawide showcase, every game in this series must be one we genuinely recommend playing at 32:9.

Current progress: 4/20

1/20 — DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations is an easy opening choice. Its enormous environments, crowded arenas, flying projectiles, demons, and constant effects spread naturally across the full display.

The additional peripheral view also suits its aggressive combat. You can follow more of the action around the Slayer while the Chain Spear’s dashes and grappling make movement faster than in the original campaign.

32:9 verdict: A spectacular super-ultrawide shooter with the scale and peripheral action needed to justify the enormous screen.

2/20 — DragonSword : Awakening

DragonSword : Awakening shows the calmer and more colorful side of super-ultrawide gaming. The Continent of Orbis is filled with wide meadows, settlements, ruins, coastlines, and large fantasy creatures that benefit from the panoramic view.

The format also gives its animated tag-team combat more room. Heroes, enemies, companions, and visual effects can fill the battlefield without making every encounter feel trapped in the center of the screen.

32:9 verdict: A bright open-world RPG whose exploration and flashy combat look at home on a panoramic display.

3/20 — Hell Is Us

Hell Is Us earns its place through atmosphere. Its abandoned settlements, forests, interiors, and supernatural creatures become more imposing when they occupy the full 49-inch display.

The game also avoids maps, compasses, and traditional quest markers. Players must study their surroundings and navigate using environmental information, making the broader view especially useful during exploration.

32:9 verdict: A strongly atmospheric adventure where the wider image improves both environmental scale and exploration.

4/20 — Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites

Ghost Recon Wildlands: Last Rites returns the Ghosts to Bolivia for an official story-driven mission built around the hunt for La Llorona and Los Penitentes. Its mountains, roads, settlements, forests, and long sightlines spread naturally across the full display.

The additional peripheral view also suits its tactical combat and driving. Enemy positions, squad movement, vehicles, and the surrounding terrain remain visible across a broader field of view, while the full playthrough shows how the mission, cinematics, interface, and moment-to-moment action behave at 5120×1440.

32:9 verdict: A huge tactical open-world shooter whose terrain, driving, and firefights make convincing use of the full panoramic view.

How Games Qualify for Ultrawide Greats

Every entry is tested through real gameplay at 5120×1440. We consider the field of view, camera, interface, menus, cinematics, edge rendering, performance, and whether the additional width improves the experience.

A game can still qualify if some cinematics return to 16:9, but significant limitations will be identified. Simply filling the monitor is not enough.

For a broader discussion of these standards, read our feature explaining why ultrawide support should be treated as normal PC feedback.
