Final Fantasy XIV Evercold Moves to February 23, Reveals Zephyr

Posted on October 31, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A February launch and a new crossbow-wielding DPS for the MMO

Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold will launch on February 23, 2027, Square Enix announced at Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo on October 31. The sixth expansion now arrives after its previously announced January window, with the new physical ranged DPS job Zephyr revealed alongside the date.

Preorders open on November 4, 2026. Early access is scheduled for February 19, 2027, at 1 a.m. PST / 9 a.m. UTC for eligible preorders. The early-access timing remains subject to change.

Zephyr pairs a crossbow with Nephele

According to Square Enix, Zephyr fights with crossbow shots and support from an avian familiar named Nephele. It joins the previously announced tank Bastion as one of Evercold’s two new jobs.

There is an important restriction: the official jobs page says both new jobs can only use Evolved Mode. For other eligible jobs, Reborn Mode builds on the current combat system, while Evolved Mode is designed to put more emphasis on each job’s identity. Neither mode applies to limited jobs.

A higher level cap and new raid difficulty

The official Evercold site also lists a level-cap increase from 100 to 110 and new areas across the icebound Fourth. The Tokyo presentation introduced Fierce, a raid difficulty positioned between Normal and Savage, alongside more details on the Final Fantasy VII Remake series crossover raid.

The official product page lists Windows, Mac, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Evercold is an expansion, not a standalone game; a full Final Fantasy XIV license and an active subscription are required.
