Wild Blue Skies Revives the Classic Arcade On-Rails Shooter

Wild Blue Skies Launches August 13 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

The 1990s-inspired on-rails shooter will feature arcade flight combat, branching mission paths, score-chasing, and a colourful squad of animal pilots.

Wild Blue Skies will launch on August 13, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Developed by Chuhai Labs and VITEI BACKROOM Inc., and published by Balor Games, the single-player arcade shooter takes inspiration from the on-rails adventures of the 1990s.

A free demo is currently available through Steam ahead of the full release.

The Blue Bombers Take Flight

Players will take control of Bowie Stray, a member of the Blue Bombers, as the squad battles the forces of Grimclaw.

The Blue Bombers consist of Bowie, Thorne, Chuck, and Roe. Conversations between the characters and encounters with rival squads will appear throughout the campaign as the team fights to restore peace.

Missions will take players across oceans, desert ridges, caves, and other environments while they avoid incoming fire, destroy enemy formations, and face larger combat encounters.

Branching Missions and Score-Chasing

Wild Blue Skies will include branching mission paths, hidden routes, secrets, medals, and a scoring system designed to encourage repeated play.

According to the developers, the controls will be easy to learn while offering additional challenges for players attempting to master each mission, earn every medal, and uncover every available path.

The game combines an anime-inspired visual style with an arcade structure aimed at both players familiar with classic on-rails shooters and newcomers to the genre.
