O3 Hollow Descent — Sinister Sci-Fi Bullet-Hell Roguelike with Giger-Beksiński DNA
This O3 Hollow Descent preview explores the dark sci-fi roguelike shooter, which looks set to be a sharp addition to the genre when it lands on PC. It draws on H.R. Giger (Alien) and Zdzisław Beksiński—nightmarish visions of decay and desolation that match the game’s mood perfectly.

A Lone Astronaut Up Against Tentacled, Plasma-Firing Beings
Visually, O3 Hollow Descent is shaping up nicely. The dark, foreboding structures you explore stand in stark contrast to neon-bright plasma fire that cuts the gloom. You’re a lone astronaut—stranded and well-armed—pushing deeper into an alien world through trap-laced subterranea where hidden hazards, malevolent creatures, and sentry drones all want you dead.
Slick Moves and Deft Joypad Control
Movement is fluid and snappy. A laser aimpoint slices the darkness so you can take a clean bead—and keep your bearings—when the room erupts. Particle work and lighting sell the chaos: red enemy volleys cross with your blue or green fire, throwing dynamic light across corridors. Some weapons even leave subtle smoke trails.

Pickups, Builds, and the Roguelike Loop
Pickups—new weapons, bombs, and precious health—buy you more mistakes as the pressure climbs. Enemies run multi-shot patterns that make standing still a death wish; you clear a chamber by staying mobile, reading the fire, and choosing the right moment to wipe the wave and unlock the next room.
The Visible Threat and Enemy Encounters
Threats arrive in different forms. Floating, tentacled blobs and remote drones snap to your presence the second you step in, so going on the offensive—while weaving through incoming fire—is key. Beam traps can be beaten with a well-timed dash, and larger tentacled bosses spray wide plasma fans that force you to find the gap before you hit back.
Play the Demo (Controller Recommended)
The Steam demo already feels great on a controller (WASD works if you’re nimble). It’s a solo-dev project that deserves more eyes before launch.
