Buffalo Buffalo’s cozy birdwatching VR game has reached 1.0 on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S, with Steam VR planned for later in 2026.
Birdseed VR has officially reached version 1.0, bringing Buffalo Buffalo’s cozy birdwatching experience into full release on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. The update adds social multiplayer, new camera gear, expanded bird behaviours, progression rewards, and Scout’s Store cosmetics.
Instead of chasing combat or high scores, Birdseed VR focuses on slow observation, photography, and quiet discovery. Players explore the forest, document birds, fill out their Life List, and now share the experience with friends through multiplayer lobbies and room codes.

What’s New in 1.0
Multiplayer is the headline addition, letting players birdwatch with up to three friends. Scout’s Store also opens with lens skins, camera charms, polaroid frames, and other cosmetic items, while the birds themselves now feel more alive with new animations and behaviours, including pecking, perching, sleeping, and yes, pooping.
Progression has also been expanded. Players can earn bonus equipment and cosmetics by documenting bird behaviours, complete weekly challenges, and unlock the new Super and Ultra Telephoto lenses to capture birds from farther away. Buffalo Buffalo also says Field Guides 3 to 5 add more birds to find and photograph.
Steam VR Comes Later
For now, Birdseed VR is available on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. The Steam VR version has been delayed and is planned for later in 2026, with the Steam page currently live for wishlisting.
