Cairn’s Free Deep Water DLC Launches Today

Posted on August 13, 2026August 13, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

On the Trail: Deep Water adds water soloing, three climbing spots, and playable Marco

The Game Bakers has scheduled Cairn’s first free DLC, On the Trail: Deep Water, to launch today, August 13, 2026, on PC and PlayStation 5.

The new content expands the survival-climbing game with three additional climbing spots, a water-soloing mechanic, and Marco as a playable climber with a different style from Aava.

Deep Water is the first release in the free On the Trail DLC series. The base game is required.

Three new places to climb

On the Trail: Deep Water introduces the cliffs of Haken and Ruka, where players can climb over water, as well as the Lamu climbing gym with new problems to solve.

Water soloing changes what happens beneath the climber. Instead of facing the consequences of a fall onto the ground, players can attempt overhangs above water and drop into it when a route goes wrong.

Marco becomes playable

The DLC also makes Marco playable alongside Aava. Both climbers can be used in the new locations and on Mount Kami through the free-roam mode, with different climbing techniques and styles.

Players can also follow the trail of a legendary climber while uncovering the history and secrets connected to the new locations.

A reason to return to the mountain

Cairn launched on January 29, 2026. In Fix Gaming Channel’s PC review, we scored it 9.5/10 and called it a beautiful, brutal climb and a Game of the Year contender.

The free DLC answers one of the clearest requests for more routes and challenges without changing the central climbing system. The Game Bakers says On the Trail will continue as a series of free DLC releases.
