Brynn faces off against a towering flaming-armored giant in Eternal Strands, wielding her magical power inside a ruined cathedral dome.

Eternal Strands Weaving Magic and Adventure Into a New Fantasy Realm

Posted on February 6, 2025January 16, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

In my 12 hours with Eternal Strands, I’ve been thoroughly captivated not only by its engaging mechanics but also by its rich narrative and innovative gameplay, emblematic of Yellow Brick Games’ ambition as a new independent studio. You play as Brynn, a fearless Weaver on a quest to reclaim her people’s cultural home, armed with a powerful arsenal of magical abilities and weapons.

The World is Your Weapon

At the core of Eternal Strands lies a groundbreaking gameplay system where the environment itself is a formidable ally or foe. The game’s innovative physics allow for heat to spread, cold to chill, and real-time destruction, providing dynamic combat scenarios. Whether hurling burning logs with telekinesis or using raw force to manipulate the terrain, the game continually encourages creative problem-solving in battles.

Weaver of Magic

Brynn’s journey is not just about brute force but also strategic mastery of her magical Mantle. This cloak not only enhances her innate abilities but also allows for customization through combining different powers with enchanted weapons and armor crafted from fallen foes. The gameplay starts with basic sword and shield tactics but expands as you unlock magical skills that let you manipulate fire, ice, and telekinetic forces, creating personalized combat styles.

Stand Against Giants

One of the most exhilarating aspects of Eternal Strands is its colossal adversaries. The battles are a mix of tactical swordplay, spellcasting, and acrobatic prowess, reminiscent of the titanic confrontations in Shadow of the Colossus. Climbing and strategically attacking these giants adds a layer of depth and excitement, testing both your reflexes and tactical thinking.

Unstable Climate to Master

The game’s environment reacts dynamically to weather changes, adding another layer of strategy. You can exploit these conditions, like using a sudden flash freeze to enhance ice powers or a heatwave to spread wildfires, impacting combat and exploration in real-time.

A World Rich with Secrets

Eternal Strands is set in a world bursting with mysteries waiting to be uncovered. From the wilds to the bustling capital city of Dynevron, the game offers boundless exploration opportunities. The next-generation physics system not only enhances combat but also exploration, rewarding creativity in navigating and manipulating the environment.
