PS5 Extraction Shooters Are Booming in 2026 — Here Are 10 Worth Watching
From ARC Raiders and Marathon to Korean zombie towers, Japanese mechs, and gigantic walking bases, these are the PS5 extraction shooters worth playing or watching in 2026.
Extraction shooters are becoming a much bigger part of PlayStation 5. The genre now stretches well beyond realistic military shooters, with PvPvE machine hunts, supernatural horror, cyberpunk battles, mech combat, zombies, and extreme weather.
This is deliberately not just a list of the ten biggest names. Some games below are already playable on PS5, while others have officially confirmed PlayStation versions still on the way. If a PS5 release date is unknown, we say so.
We have followed the genre for years at Fix Gaming Channel. You can also look back at our Top 5 Extraction Shooters to Play Right Now to see how quickly this corner of gaming has changed.

1. ARC Raiders
Status: Available now on PS5
ARC Raiders is one of the easiest recommendations for anyone entering the extraction genre on console. Players leave the underground settlement of Speranza and travel Topside looking for loot while dealing with deadly ARC machines and other Raiders.
You can deploy solo or in small teams, but anything valuable you collect only becomes useful if you survive long enough to bring it home.
Its mixture of third-person combat, dangerous machines, PvP encounters, and a more approachable structure has helped it become one of the most visible modern extraction games. We have also covered ARC Raiders and its major post-launch player momentum on Fix Gaming Channel.
Best for: players who want a polished entry point into extraction shooters without losing the tension of PvPvE.
Release: October 30, 2025
Genre: Third-Person Extraction Shooter / PvPvE
Developer / Publisher: Embark Studios
Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S
2. Hunt: Showdown 1896
Status: Available now on PS5
Hunt: Showdown 1896 remains one of the most distinctive extraction shooters available. Instead of modern military compounds, Crytek sends Hunters into corrupted environments filled with supernatural creatures and bosses.
Players hunt targets, secure valuable bounties, and then face the harder part: getting out while other Hunters know there is something worth stealing.
Sound is also a huge part of Hunt. Gunfire, animals, footsteps, doors, and environmental noise can reveal where another player is moving, giving matches a slower and more paranoid rhythm than many faster extraction shooters.
Best for: horror fans who want high tension, PvPvE, and a very different style of gunfight.
Release: August 15, 2024
Genre: Extraction Shooter / Horror / PvPvE
Developer / Publisher: Crytek
Platform: PS5
3. Marathon
Status: Available now on PS5
Marathon arrived in 2026, bringing Bungie’s gunplay into a dedicated survival extraction FPS.
Players become cybernetic Runners operating across Tau Ceti IV, scavenging weapons, equipment, upgrades, and valuables while fighting hostile security forces and rival players.
You can operate with a crew or take a solo route, and every run carries the familiar extraction decision: keep pushing for something better, or get out while you still have something worth keeping.
Marathon – Official Gameplay Trailer
Best for: players who want fast Bungie-style FPS combat with much higher stakes attached to every run.
Release: March 5, 2026
Genre: Survival Extraction FPS
Developer / Publisher: Bungie
Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S
4. Delta Force
Status: Available now on PS5 — Free-to-play
Delta Force is not purely an extraction shooter, but its Operations mode easily earns it a place here.
Operations sends squads behind enemy lines to find valuables, fight rival players, complete objectives, and extract before losing what they have collected. Players who want something more traditional can jump into the game’s large-scale Warfare battles instead.
It also brings an important Asian-developed game into the mix. Team Jade is behind Delta Force, and the free-to-play model makes it one of the easiest extraction experiences to try on PS5.
For more on the game, we have also covered Delta Force and its continuing seasonal expansion.
Best for: military shooter fans who want extraction alongside large-scale multiplayer.
Release: August 19, 2025 on PS5
Genre: Tactical FPS / Extraction / Large-Scale Shooter
Developer: Team Jade
Platform: PS5
5. SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada
Status: Available now on PS5
This is where the list gets stranger. Japanese sci-fi extraction shooter SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada puts players inside two-legged Cradle Coffin mechs accompanied by AI partners known as Magus.
Drifters head to the surface looking for AO Crystals and other resources while dealing with Enders, environmental hazards, and potentially hostile players.
Its anime styling, mech customisation, AI companionship, and extraction systems give it an identity far removed from another military shooter. Reception has been mixed, but that does not make the concept any less unusual.
SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada – Official Trailer
Best for: players who want Japanese sci-fi, mechs, and a very different take on PvPvE extraction.
Release: January 2025
Genre: Sci-Fi Extraction Shooter / PvPvE
Developer / Publisher: Game Studio Inc. / Bandai Namco Entertainment
Platform: PS5
6. Off The Grid
Status: Available now on PS5 — Free Early Access
Off The Grid describes itself as an Extraction Royale, which is an important distinction. It mixes extraction mechanics with battle royale rather than copying the traditional Tarkov-style structure exactly.
Players fight across Teardrop Island, modify their characters with cybernetic limbs, build different weapon combinations, and extract valuable equipment while PvP and PvE threats collide.
Best for: players who want something faster, louder, and closer to battle royale than a hardcore extraction simulation.
Genre: Extraction Royale / Cyberpunk Shooter
Developer / Publisher: Gunzilla Games
Platform: PS5
7. The Midnight Walkers
Status: PS5 officially announced — release date TBD
This is one of the less obvious games on the list and one PS5 players may want to keep on their radar.
The Midnight Walkers comes from South Korea’s Oneway Ticket Studio and traps players inside the Liberty Grand Center, a huge zombie-infested mega-complex.
Players enter alone or in teams, search abandoned floors for weapons and loot, fight zombies and rival players, and decide when it is time to escape. Floors gradually become unsafe as a run develops, pushing everyone into increasingly dangerous parts of the building.
That vertical structure is the hook. Instead of another giant countryside map, pressure builds floor by floor inside one massive complex.
If the horror side of extraction shooters interests you, we also recently highlighted Beautiful Light as a horror extraction shooter worth watching.
Why watch it: Korean zombie extraction inside a vertical mega-complex is exactly the kind of idea that can stand out.
PS5 Release: TBD
Genre: Zombie FPS / PvPvE Extraction
Developer / Publisher: Oneway Ticket Studio
Platforms: PS5 announced, PC
8. SAND: Raiders of Sophie
Status: PS5 officially announced — release date TBD
SAND: Raiders of Sophie may have the easiest concept on this entire list to remember: an extraction shooter with gigantic walking bases.
Players build and customise machines called Tramplers, which can function as transport, storage, protection, bases, and weapons. Crews then head across the desert looking for resources while dealing with rival players and hostile inhabitants.
The PC version is already available, but the current PlayStation Store listing still has the PS5 release date as TBD.
Why watch it: giant customisable walking fortresses give SAND a visual identity almost immediately.
PS5 Release: TBD
Genre: Open-World PvPvE Extraction FPS
Developer / Publisher: Hologryph, TowerHaus / tinyBuild
Platform: PS5 announced
9. Exoborne
Status: PS5 officially announced — release date TBD
Exoborne takes the extraction formula into a world being torn apart by extreme weather.
Players use customisable Exo-Rigs while scavenging, fighting hostile factions, encountering other players, and trying to get back out alive.
The weather system is what makes Exoborne worth watching. If storms and environmental hazards genuinely change routes, positioning, and extraction decisions, rather than simply making the trailers look impressive, it could give the game a very clear identity.
Why watch it: extraction pressure combined with extreme weather and powerful Exo-Rigs.
Release: TBD
Genre: Open-World Tactical Extraction Shooter
Developer / Publisher: Sharkmob / Level Infinite
Platform: PS5 announced
10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – DMZ
Status: Coming to PS5 on October 23, 2026
The biggest brand on this list lands at number ten deliberately. Modern Warfare 4 is not itself an extraction shooter. DMZ is one major mode inside a much larger Call of Duty release.
DMZ returns as a persistent extraction experience where players enter the Hajin Exclusion Zone, tackle objectives, encounter other players, build progression between matches, and decide when it is time to leave.
Call of Duty’s sheer reach also matters. DMZ can put extraction gameplay in front of players who may never buy a dedicated extraction shooter.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – DMZ First Look
Why watch it: Call of Duty can give extraction shooters another enormous boost in visibility.
Release: October 23, 2026
Genre: FPS / DMZ Extraction Mode
Developer / Publisher: Infinity Ward / Activision
Platform: PS5
Also Worth Knowing: Mistfall Hunter
Mistfall Hunter deserves a mention because it pushes the extraction formula somewhere very different, but we have deliberately kept it outside the numbered list.
It is a third-person PvPvE extraction ARPG rather than an extraction shooter. Instead of modern firearms, it builds its runs around fantasy classes, melee combat, abilities, monsters, equipment, and loot.
For anyone interested in how far extraction mechanics can stretch beyond shooters, it is still one of the more curious PS5 releases of 2026.
Final Thoughts
The PS5 extraction lineup becomes much more interesting once you look beyond only the biggest releases.
ARC Raiders, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Marathon give players three very different established choices. Delta Force provides a free Chinese-developed alternative, while SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada brings Japanese mechs and AI companions into the extraction loop.
The games still coming to PS5 may be even more curious. The Midnight Walkers has its Korean zombie tower, SAND: Raiders of Sophie has giant moving fortresses, and Exoborne is betting on extreme weather changing how players survive.
Not every one of them will become the next extraction phenomenon. That is exactly why the genre is interesting to watch in 2026.
