Metal Hellsinger VR: A Demon Slaying Rhythm-Fueled Experience on Meta Quest 3

Posted on October 6, 2024January 21, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Shoot to the Beat—Now in Full VR

Reviewed on Meta Quest 3.Score: 8/10

Metal: Hellsinger VR is a full virtual reality rework of the rhythm-shooter Metal: Hellsinger—built around the same simple obsession: shoot, reload, and move on the beat to ramp your damage and keep your combo alive.

Gameplay: Rhythm Meets Freedom

Unlike on-rails VR shooters, Metal: Hellsinger VR gives you proper room to move. Dashes, reloads, and shots feel best when you’re locked into the music—because staying on-beat doesn’t just look cool, it directly fuels your damage output and score.

Difficulty & Accessibility

On Normal difficulty, some arenas can get demanding fast—even if you’re comfortable with rhythm games. Easier modes make it more approachable as a shooter, but the full “flow state” lives in the rhythm system, and that’s where the game clicks hardest.

VR Comfort and Performance

This is an intense one. Rapid motion, quick turns, and constant combat can be a lot if you’re motion-sensitive. Standing play feels ideal. Seated can work (especially with a rotating stool), but you’ll want to be cautious and take breaks if you start feeling off.

Graphics & Sound

On Meta Quest 3, the performance holds up well and the action stays readable—even when the screen turns into pure inferno. But the real star is the soundtrack: the harder you play, the more the music feels like it’s pushing you forward.

Narrative Mode

Between fights, the story is delivered through narrated beats that keep the pace moving. It’s not the main reason you’re here, but it does a good job giving the carnage some structure—and a breather before the next arena.

Metal: Hellsinger VR

Release: 26 Sep 2024 (Meta Quest), 3 Oct 2024 (Steam, PlayStation VR2)

Genre: Rhythm Shooter, Action, FPS

Developer / Publisher: Lab42, The Outsiders / Funcom

Platforms: PC — Steam, Meta Quest — Meta Store, PlayStation VR2 — PlayStation Store

Final Verdict

Metal: Hellsinger VR isn’t just a quick port—it’s the same concept rebuilt to feel physical. When you find the rhythm, it becomes addictive in the best way: you’re not only aiming, you’re performing.

Recommended For:

  • VR players who enjoy free movement shooters
  • Fans of rhythm-driven action like Beat Saber and Pistol Whip
  • Anyone who wants a high-energy VR campaign with serious soundtrack attitude
