MoonDay begins with two very different games priced at only one dollar
OFFMOON plans to release a new $1 indie game on Steam on the first Monday of every month, beginning August 3 with Who Am I Next? : Animals and Hell Deck.
The new monthly tradition is called MoonDay. According to OFFMOON, the idea is to lower the financial barrier and make it easier for players to take a chance on unfamiliar indie games.
The first MoonDay is slightly different because two games are scheduled to launch instead of one. Both arrive on August 3, 2026, priced at $1 each.
It is a price low enough to stand out even beside our recent list of the 15 best games under $20 on Steam. However, price alone cannot determine whether either game is worth playing.

Seven players, 50 animals, and three minutes of chaos
Who Am I Next? : Animals is an online party brawler supporting up to seven players. Each match lasts three minutes, with players randomly assigned an animal from their unlocked collection.
Every animal has a different mission that must be completed within 20 seconds. Finishing it immediately transforms the player into another animal, while being defeated results in an instant respawn with a new character.
More than 50 animals can be unlocked, ranging from chickens and dung beetles to a Tyrannosaurus rex. Players must also avoid meteor showers, sinkholes, trains, cars, and other environmental hazards while competing for first place.
Hell Deck offers something much darker
Hell Deck is a roguelike deckbuilder and defense game played across a restricted grid. Players collect units, create combinations, and construct a strange ecosystem built around predation and sacrifice.
The objective is to defend Hell against a holy swarm. Units can hunt and consume one another, allowing deliberate sacrifices and accidental placements to trigger mutations and produce stronger creatures.
It is a dramatically different proposition from the colorful animal brawler, giving the first MoonDay some welcome variety.

A one-dollar game still has to be worth playing
The appeal of OFFMOON’s $1 indie games is obvious. Players do not need to wait for a major sale, buy a subscription, or make a significant commitment before trying something unfamiliar.
That does not automatically make the games good. A low price can encourage discovery, but it cannot replace stable performance, clear design, enough content, or an enjoyable central idea.
The more interesting question is whether OFFMOON can maintain its monthly schedule while finding games that deserve attention. The first two releases at least provide a clear contrast: one is a colorful multiplayer brawler, while the other is a grim single-player strategy game built around cannibalistic deckbuilding.
If MoonDay consistently introduces worthwhile games that players would otherwise miss, the $1 price could become more than a marketing hook. We will still judge each release on the game itself.
