Another Hong Kong Massacre? Kusan: City of Wolves Is Out Now on PS5

Posted on August 3, 2026August 3, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A brutal new top-down shooter has arrived on PS5

Kusan: City of Wolves brings fast, unforgiving gunfights, neon-noir streets, and pixel-art violence to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Developed by CIRCLEfromDOT and published by PQube, Kusan: City of Wolves launched on July 30, 2026.

Players take control of Jin, a former soldier turned gun-for-hire who must fight through a corrupt, neon-drenched city to save Haru, a girl fitted with a city-grade atomic weapon.

Another Hong Kong Massacre?

The comparison is difficult to avoid. The overhead perspective, neon-lit streets, fast restarts, and violent close-range gunfights immediately recall The Hong Kong Massacre.

Steam even offers an official bundle pairing the two games. However, Kusan: City of Wolves brings its own ideas through detailed pixel art, melee parries, comic-panel storytelling, boss battles, and the upgradeable War Hand.

Fast, Brutal, and Built for Repeat Runs

Combat is built around speed, precision, and rapid movement. Players can combine firearms, blades, parries, finishers, and environmental destruction while fighting through tightly designed arenas.

The campaign includes 54 handcrafted stages spread across multiple chapters, with skill-based challenges, distinctive boss encounters, weapon upgrades, and S-ranks for players chasing cleaner and faster runs.

Players can earn Bolts to upgrade the War Hand, unlock firearms and blades, and adjust their loadout for different encounters. Jin’s story is presented through graphic-novel-style cutscenes, while the action is backed by an energetic soundtrack from Korean hip-hop artist Loptimist.
