A family-built co-op survival sandbox with serious momentum
Delverium is our Indie Gem of the Day, combining farming, crafting, settlement building, exploration, and dungeon crawling in a procedurally generated fantasy world for up to eight players.
The debut game from Australian indie studio Sagestone Games will enter Steam Early Access on September 22, 2026, with the developer reporting that it has already passed 80,000 wishlists.
Wishlist numbers do not guarantee success, but 80,000 is a strong sign that players are paying attention. We recently saw similar momentum around ORMOD: Directive reaching 150,000 wishlists, showing how much interest remains around ambitious survival sandboxes.

More than another survival crafting game
Delverium gives players a wide selection of activities, ranging from peaceful farming and settlement building to dangerous dungeon expeditions. Players can gather materials, craft equipment, grow crops, build shelters, recruit NPCs, and explore the world alone or with friends.
Players can grow crops, raise animals, and build settlements together.
The fantasy world is procedurally generated, meaning each journey can produce different landscapes, resources, ruins, and dangers. Players can take their time improving their settlement or travel deeper into hostile areas in search of better rewards and answers.
Dungeon exploration brings dangerous battles and hostile environments.
That mix of relaxed building and increasing pressure gives the game a broader identity than a straightforward crafting sandbox. Players who enjoy the busy combination of gathering, combat, exploration, and co-op found in games such as StarRupture may find plenty to follow here, although Delverium takes the concept in a brighter fantasy direction.
A co-op project that started with family
Primary developer Scott Lowther began creating Delverium as a passion project that he could enjoy with his family because of their shared love of cooperative games.
“Delverium began as a passion project for my family and me to play together due to our shared love of co-op gaming,” Lowther said. “With the help of a supportive community, Delverium has continued to grow into something special.”
Sagestone Games is primarily led by Lowther, with support from a small group of friends and BAFTA award-winning composer and audio director Jeff van Dyck, whose previous credits include Unpacking, Forts, and Paint the Town Red.
Development has also received support through Screen Queensland’s Games Grants and the Australian Government’s Screen Australia Games Production Fund.
Why it earned the Indie Gem spot
The 80,000-wishlist milestone got our attention, but the story behind the game is just as important. This is the debut release from a small Australian studio, built around a type of cooperative experience the developer originally wanted to share with his own family.
It also offers a promising balance between quiet progression and dangerous exploration. Farming, crafting, and building give players something to create together, while the dungeons and mysterious invading Faults provide a reason to keep pushing beyond the safety of the settlement.
With support for one to eight players, a playable demo, and confirmed Steam Deck support, Delverium has the foundation of an Early Access release worth watching.
