A dynasty-building sim that landed on our radar—and it deserves a place on yours
Week 14 is here, and choosing just one game to spotlight each week never gets easier. But sometimes, a title surfaces that instantly earns your full attention. House of Legacy wasn’t overlooked by the community—it’s already earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam—but I admit it slipped past me until recently. Luckily, a timely tip from the Fix Gaming Team fixed that.

This Early Access strategy sim was released on May 15, 2025, and it’s clear that S3 Studio and publisher Thermite Games are building something with serious long-term potential. Combining historical Chinese aesthetics with deep dynasty management, political maneuvering, and estate development, House of Legacy is one of the most unique strategy games I’ve come across this year.

A Deep and Cultural Sandbox
Set in ancient China, House of Legacy asks players to rebuild a fallen clan’s legacy from the ground up. You’ll guide family members across generations, form political alliances, build estates, manage resources, and decide your dynasty’s future through a blend of roleplay and strategy.
Whether focusing on diplomacy, warfare, scholarship, or marriage alliances, there’s a surprising amount of narrative flexibility. The sandbox is wide, the mechanics are layered, and while some UI and pacing elements are still evolving—it’s Early Access, after all—the core experience already feels fresh and thoughtful.
Why It Earned Game of the Week
I’m always looking for games that do something different. House of Legacy manages to blend systems you’ve seen elsewhere—think Crusader Kings or Total War family management—but delivers them in a uniquely grounded setting. There’s no fantasy, no overblown spectacle. Just historical intrigue, strategy, and legacy-building, executed with care and cultural specificity.
