Cubic Odyssey

Red Darkness Threatens the Galaxy in Cubic Odyssey 15 May, 2025

Posted on May 10, 2025May 10, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A procedural open world with co-op, crafting, planetary mining, and a threat spreading across the stars

Something is brewing in deep space—and it’s not just another interstellar mining sim. Cubic Odyssey drops players into a massive sandbox universe to explore, build, and fight for survival. But what caught my attention during my gameplay recording wasn’t just the scale—it was the intensity of the spreading “Red Darkness” and how it twists the world around you. This isn’t just about base-building; it’s about survival on a galactic scale.

I’ll be honest—I’ve never played Minecraft. But even so, this gave me that same suspicious feeling: is this a beautiful, blocky FPS mixed with open-world survival and crafting? At first glance, it kind of looks like Lego in space—but don’t be fooled. It’s better than it looks. The lighting, the shifting night and day cycle, the atmosphere—it all works surprisingly well. Gameplay feels smooth and responsive. There’s even a narrative unfolding, which I didn’t expect at all.

I never heard about this game until today—it landed in my lap. And what a surprise. It’s a slow burn, sure, and I didn’t encounter many enemies yet, but that might come later. The building and crafting systems are already solid, and it seems you can dig to the bottom of a planet. I’m sure someone will try. I had other gaming plans today… but I stayed. It’s a game that pulls you in quietly.

For me, it’s a go-to-play. Recommended by Fix Gaming Channel.
