A Creepy Night Shift, Unsettling Sounds, and More Questions Than Answers
I love these old-school horror games. Give me chunky retro graphics, unsettling sounds, and a place where something just feels wrong, and I’m interested. Bleach & Blood has all of that. I had a go at the free demo, and the PS1-inspired style is exactly the kind of thing I want to see more of.
You’re working a night shift at a laundromat, cleaning floors, doing small jobs, and dealing with a few customers. Nothing especially frightening on paper. But the sounds and atmosphere kept me wondering what would happen next. It reminded me of my time with Night Portable, where even the background noise was enough to make me uneasy.

Cleaning Floors, Waiting for a Scare
The little tasks give you something to focus on while the game works on your nerves. I never felt entirely sure what was coming. At the same time, you know you’re playing a horror game, and you’re waiting for the moment something suddenly jumps into frame and scares the crap out of you.
That’s what I liked most about this demo. The retro look and the sound work together. Even a simple job in a washing store feels different when you’re expecting trouble.

But Where Is the Story Going?
Here’s where I was left a little disappointed. The Steam description introduces Evelyn Miller, who has moved to a quiet town to escape her past. That gives the game an interesting setup, but the demo didn’t tell me much about where any of it was heading.

My session lasted no more than about 30 minutes. When it ended, I wanted more story. I also wanted to keep playing. A little disappointment mixed with genuine curiosity is a strange way to finish a demo, but that’s exactly how Bleach & Blood left me.
A Hidden Horror Gem Worth a Look
I’m not calling this a full review after half an hour. The story still has a lot to prove. But if you enjoy PS1-style horror, creepy audio, and the feeling that something awful might happen while you’re just trying to finish your shift, I’d say give the demo a try.
You can play the free demo and watch the teaser on Steam. The full game is currently planned for 2027. I’m curious to see where The Windy Project takes it.
