Incident Archives – Flight 882 passenger plane flying through a dark storm with Indie Gem of the Day text

Incident Archives – Flight 882 Review: Free 10/10 Horror

Posted on August 18, 2026August 23, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Incident Archives – Flight 882 Is Our Indie Gem of the Day — A Tense 10/10 Horror Flight

A short, tense psychological-horror experience that makes you feel something terrible is going to happen almost immediately.

10/10

Reviewed on: PC via Steam

Playtime: Around 21 minutes

Test system: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Radeon RX 7900 XTX / 48GB DDR5 RAM

Resolution: 2560×1440

Review status: Completed

Incident Archives – Flight 882 does not need hours to build tension. From the opening minutes, I had the feeling that something terrible — maybe even catastrophic — was going to happen.

My full playthrough lasted around 21 minutes. It is a very short experience, but those 21 minutes worked for me. It felt grounded, atmospheric, tense, and increasingly uncomfortable as the story moved toward the flight itself.

And there is another very good reason to give it a shot: it is free.

If smaller games like this are your thing, Unpossess 2 was another recent Indie Gem of the Day pick.

Something Feels Wrong From the Start

The game does not throw you straight into the cockpit. You begin at home, and the mood already feels uneasy.

There is a photograph of your wife and a letter from her. Reading the letter gives the opening a sad tone, and checking the children’s room makes it feel even more personal. Nothing horrific has happened yet, but I already felt like the game was preparing me for something bad.

The opening home sequence gives Incident Archives – Flight 882 a sad, uneasy tone before the flight begins.

It is a simple setup, but it works. Before you even leave for work, you already have the feeling that this story is not going to end well.

The Flight Gets Tense Fast

You eventually head to work and take your place as the First Officer aboard Flight 882.

The flying surprised me because you need to pay attention. I found the aircraft difficult to maneuver when I lost focus, which helped make the cockpit feel more involved and believable instead of simply being a backdrop for the story.

Flying requires some attention, and the worsening conditions quickly make Flight 882 feel far less routine.

Then the turbulence hits.

From there, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense. Things begin to go wrong, you hear what sounds like gunfire, and that feeling of an approaching catastrophe gets stronger.

I am not going to explain the final moments in detail. With an experience that lasts around 21 minutes, giving away exactly how the flight ends would spoil a large part of it.

Short, but It Works

There is no getting around the length. I completed Incident Archives – Flight 882 in around 21 minutes.

But I do not see that as a negative here.

The game establishes the personal side of the story, gets you into the cockpit, builds the tension, and reaches its conclusion without dragging things out.

Most importantly, it felt real enough for me to buy into what was happening. The atmosphere worked, and that uneasy feeling from the beginning stayed with me until the end.

Why It Is Our Indie Gem of the Day

Incident Archives – Flight 882 earns our Indie Gem of the Day pick because it makes those 21 minutes count.

The photograph and letter at home immediately give the story a sad edge. The flight feels surprisingly involved, and once the situation starts deteriorating, the game becomes genuinely tense.

It is small, focused, atmospheric, and memorable. That is exactly the kind of game this series is meant to highlight.

And perhaps best of all, there is almost no barrier to trying it yourself: it is free.

The Verdict

I am judging Incident Archives – Flight 882 for the short experience it sets out to deliver.

For me, it delivers. The atmosphere works, the tension builds quickly, the opening gives the story some emotional weight, and the flight kept me focused until its terrible conclusion.

Incident Archives – Flight 882 earns a 10/10 from me and our Indie Gem of the Day pick.

Short, tense, atmospheric — and free.
