GRIT brings 100-player Wild West battles, poker-inspired weapons, horses, and quick-draw duels to Steam
GRIT has officially launched on Steam, bringing Team GRIT’s third-person Wild West battle royale to PC with up to 100 players fighting to survive the Calamity and catch the last train out of town.
Developed and published by Team GRIT, the game combines traditional battle royale combat with horseback traversal, moving trains, quick-draw duels, and an inventory system built around playing-card suits.
The launch version also arrives with updates across weapons, controls, maps, movement, horse riding, customization, and other parts of the game.

Weapons double as playing cards
One of GRIT’s main systems turns every weapon into part of a poker hand. Players have four weapon slots, with each gun carrying its own rank and suit.
Equipping two weapons from the same suit activates a perk, while building a four-weapon hand around one suit unlocks a stronger specialization. Diamonds create the Tracker, Hearts the Chaplain, Spades the Merchant, and Clubs the Cavalry.
Those bonuses cover different roles, including tracking enemies, improving healing and revives, increasing offensive capabilities, and strengthening horseback combat. Suit perks can also benefit teammates, making weapon combinations relevant across a full Posse.
Getting eliminated can lead to a quick-draw duel
Being shot down does not necessarily end a match. GRIT includes a Second Chance system that sends eliminated players into a 1v1 quick-draw showdown, with the winner earning the right to return to the match.
Horses are also a major part of traversal and combat. Players can ride at different speeds, fire while mounted, and use saddlebags to carry additional equipment.
Combat uses projectile-based shooting rather than hitscan weapons, requiring players to account for distance, bullet travel, and drop when firing at longer ranges.
The train keeps moving as the Calamity closes in
Instead of relying only on the shrinking safe zone familiar from other battle royale games, GRIT also puts a moving train into play. Players can board it for loot, use it to maintain position as the Calamity closes across the map, and fight other players attempting to do the same.
Matches also use Wildcards to change their rules. Three are selected from a deck of twenty before each match, potentially changing how the Calamity behaves, removing Second Chances, or altering other parts of the round.
GRIT supports Solo, Duos, and Posses, with matches designed for up to 100 players and approximately 25 minutes per round. The launch also includes the first CattlePass, offering 100 levels of cosmetic rewards including weapon skins, horse skins, parachutes, outfits, flare, and titles.
