Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 expands squads to four players, adds a customizable Specialist class, and brings dedicated Horde maps to the fight against the Xenomorphs.

The wait for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is over. Cold Iron Studios released the sequel on August 25, 2026, expanding the original three-player setup to squads of up to four Colonial Marines.

Team Survival Returns With Four-Player Co-op

Teamwork remains at the center of the sequel. Players need to coordinate weapons and class abilities while dealing with waves of Xenomorphs across tight corridors and dangerous combat areas. The move to four-player squads gives teams another Colonial Marine compared with the original game and creates more room for different class combinations.

Cross-platform co-op is also supported, alongside cross-platform voice chat, making it easier for squads to coordinate across the available platforms.

Specialist Class Adds More Flexibility

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 introduces the Specialist, an endgame class built around customization. Players can mix and match major and minor abilities from the other available classes, allowing the Specialist to fill different roles depending on what the squad needs.

The broader class system includes five distinct classes alongside the Specialist, giving squads more ways to build around different weapons, abilities, and tactical approaches.

Dedicated Horde Maps Push Squads Further

The sequel includes multiple dedicated Horde maps built around surviving escalating waves of Xenomorphs and other threats. The longer a squad survives, the more valuable the potential rewards become, putting more pressure on positioning, ammunition management, and class coordination.

More Weapons Against the Xenomorphs

Players have additional ways to fight back against the expanded Xenomorph roster. Close-range stun batons provide a desperate melee option, while pyro and electric ammunition give squads more tools for controlling enemies before they overwhelm a position.

Weapon customization has also been expanded through different fire modes, Augments, and Weapon Traits, allowing players to tailor individual weapons around their preferred playstyle.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Is Out Now

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 released on August 25, 2026, for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

The game is developed by Cold Iron Studios and published by Daybreak Game Company in collaboration with 20th Century Games.
