Deliver soup, feed the cat, and try not to think too much about what is wrong with the town
Thanks for the Soup launches today, September 21, in Steam Early Access, combining soup deliveries, farming, fishing, pets, and psychological horror in one very strange little package.
Thanks for the Soup immediately caught our attention because it starts with such a normal idea. Take orders, get on your bicycle, deliver soup around town, earn money, upgrade your gear, and try to build a quiet life.
Then the game starts hinting that the town is not quite right. That contrast is enough to make this one of today’s indie releases worth putting on your radar.

A normal job with something strange underneath
The everyday side of Thanks for the Soup includes working your delivery shift, earning money, fishing, farming, upgrading equipment, and looking after your cat.
The delivery job gives Thanks for the Soup an everyday routine before the stranger parts of the town start creeping in.
Outside work, you can slow things down and spend some time fishing or working on your little piece of town life.
Fishing is one of the quieter activities available outside the soup-delivery routine.
But the town is locked down, the fog behaves strangely, and there are things happening that nobody seems especially interested in explaining. There is also one rule that immediately raises questions: stay out of the kitchen.
Even ordinary tasks in Thanks for the Soup can start feeling a little unsettling.
A small indie worth watching
Thanks for the Soup is being made by the two-person team at Solshade Games, with the game built in Godot.
The developers expect Early Access to last around a year while they continue adding content and adjusting the game through player feedback.
We have not reviewed the Early Access build, so this is not a verdict. It is simply a recommendation to take a look at a small indie with a hook that is very easy to remember.
Soup delivery, fishing, farming, a cat, psychological horror, and a kitchen you are apparently not supposed to enter. That is enough for Thanks for the Soup to be today’s Fix Gaming Channel Game of the Day.
