September 21 tickets will be refunded, while official broadcasts stay online
Tokyo Game Show 2026 canceled its final in-person day at Makuhari Messe on Monday, September 21, because of the approaching Typhoon No. 25.
The decision was announced on September 19. Organizers cited worsening wind and rain forecasts and possible public-transport disruption, prioritizing the safety of visitors, exhibitors, and staff—including their journeys home.
The closure covered the entire day, not just afternoon sessions. More convention reporting is available through our Gaming Events hub.

Refunds for September 21 ticket holders
Tickets purchased for September 21 will be refunded. Buyers should follow the instructions from their original ticket seller, according to the organizer’s notice. September 20 tickets are excluded under that notice because the event proceeded as scheduled that day.
Official broadcasts stayed online
In a September 20 update, organizers confirmed that official programming would still stream on September 21 without public attendance. The notice also listed selected exhibitor broadcasts and archives, including Capcom stage programming and D3Publisher recordings.
The canceled session would have completed TGS’s first planned five-day edition. Instead, the physical show ran September 17–20, with 257,642 visits reported across four days.
Viewing links and participating exhibitors are listed in the official online-program update.
