Gravelord game cover showing the undead protagonist Queedo holding a magical shovel

Gravelord Charges Into Early Access With Trailer and Release Date Reveal

Posted on January 9, 2025May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

“Let’s put the fun back in funeral!” With that cheeky tagline, indie developer Fatbot Games introduces GRAVELORD, a retro-inspired boomer shooter fueled by undead mayhem and sarcastic one-liners. The title is officially set to launch in Early Access on January 22, 2025, offering players a gritty, blood-soaked homage to the golden age of FPS games like Doom and Quake.

A Gritty Homage to the FPS Classics

In GRAVELORD, players take control of Queedo—a foul-mouthed gravedigger with a magical shovel and a knack for chaos. Packed with brutal weapons, Tarot card power-ups, and sardonic wit, Queedo’s journey pits him against swarms of undead horrors as he attempts to put them back where they belong—six feet under.

The combat is fast, the environments are gritty, and the tone walks a fine line between grotesque and absurd. GRAVELORD fully embraces the retro shooter aesthetic but adds a few new tricks to keep things fresh and unpredictable.

Early Access Plans and Community Involvement

When GRAVELORD hits Early Access, it will include the entire first episode plus a bonus level, offering hours of high-octane gameplay right out of the gate. Developer Tibor Repta emphasizes the importance of community feedback during this phase, hoping to fine-tune the experience before full release.

Additionally, a proprietary level editor is already in the works, allowing players to design, build, and share their own hellish graveyards and arenas.

Key Features

  • Fast-paced FPS action inspired by Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem
  • Tarot card power-ups that shake up combat and strategy
  • Proprietary level editor (coming soon)
  • Episode-based content structure with bonus levels
  • Signature dark humor and sarcastic one-liners from protagonist Queedo

Final Thoughts

GRAVELORD doesn’t just resurrect the FPS roots—it exhumes them with a grin and a shotgun. For fans of fast-paced, no-nonsense shooters who also appreciate a bit of wit with their gore, this is one title worth keeping a close eye on as we move into 2025.
