BOMBANANA! Launches on Steam After 1 Million Wishlists and 6 Million Demo Players

Posted on September 3, 2026 By Robelle Veligano

Three monkeys, one bomb, and chaotic three-player co-op

BOMBANANA! launched on Steam on September 2, 2026, challenging exactly three players to defuse bombs while working with incomplete information and some deliberately difficult communication.

Developed by Lefto Studio and published by TARK, the co-op puzzle game assigns each player a different monkey: one blind, one mute, and one deaf. Each role has access to information the others need, making communication part of the puzzle itself.

If your group is looking for more teamwork-heavy games, check out our 15 Best Co-op Games to Play in 2026. For a very different kind of multiplayer chaos, read our WHAT THE PAK?! review.

Three Monkeys Need Each Other

  • Blind Monkey: Can interact with the bomb but cannot see it, including its colors or screens.
  • Mute Monkey: Is the only player who can read the bomb disposal manual but cannot simply tell the others what it says.
  • Deaf Monkey: Can see the bomb and watch the other players gesture but cannot hear them.

The result is an asymmetric co-op puzzle game built around gestures, limited communication, mistakes, and three friends trying to understand each other before the bomb explodes.

That communication-driven chaos puts it in interesting company. Our PEAK review looks at another co-op game where teamwork can quickly turn into disaster, while Big Walk takes a very different approach to communication between friends.

Campaign, Endless, and Custom Modes

The full release expands beyond the original demo with three game modes. Campaign includes 30 handcrafted levels that increase in difficulty, while Endless mode uses procedurally generated waves that become progressively harder.

Custom mode lets groups adjust the bomb difficulty, timer, module types, environmental hazards, and the number of mistakes allowed. The full release also includes different environments, additional puzzle modules, a global lobby browser, achievements, controller support, and accessibility options including a colorblind mode.

One Million Wishlists and Six Million Demo Players

Lefto Studio reported that BOMBANANA! had passed one million Steam wishlists before release. The developer also reported six million cumulative demo players during the game’s pre-launch period.

Those numbers gave the game considerable momentum heading into launch, but they should not be confused with full-game sales. At the time of writing, Lefto Studio and TARK have not announced an official copies-sold total.

The full game has also opened with a Very Positive Steam user rating. Steam’s US storefront currently lists a standard price of $7.99, with a 38% introductory discount reducing it to $4.95 through September 9. Regional pricing may differ.
