15 co-op games worth playing together in 2026

From two-player adventures and chaotic climbing to survival, RPGs and four-player shooters, these are 15 of the best co-op games to play in 2026.

Sometimes you just want a game that is better with somebody else. This list mixes newer releases with older co-op games that are still easy to recommend in 2026.

If your friends are spread across different systems, our best crossplay games for mobile, console and PC has more options. For something even easier to start, we also picked 15 browser games to play with friends.

Four hours of Split Fiction with Ronny and Miss Fix

I joined Ronny for around four hours of Split Fiction co-op. The constant changes in mechanics and the way both players need to work together are a big reason it takes our number one spot.

Best co-op games 2026: Quick picks

Game Players Best for
Split Fiction 2 Story co-op
Baldur’s Gate 3 Up to 4 RPG
Helldivers 2 Up to 4 Squad action
It Takes Two 2 Two-player co-op
Borderlands 4 Up to 4 Loot shooter
Grounded 2 Up to 4 Survival
PEAK Up to 4 Climbing chaos
R.E.P.O. Up to 6 Co-op horror
Deep Rock Galactic Up to 4 Co-op FPS
Monster Hunter Wilds Up to 4 Monster hunting
Remnant II Up to 3 Challenging combat
Sea of Thieves Up to 4 per crew Pirate adventures
Valheim Up to 10 Survival worlds
PowerWash Simulator 2 4 online / 2 local Relaxed co-op
Minecraft Varies Sandbox

1. Split Fiction

Players: 2 | Best for: Story-driven co-op

Split Fiction is built entirely around two people working together. The game keeps changing its mechanics as Mio and Zoe move between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, while Friend’s Pass lets one owner invite another player for the full adventure.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: RPG groups

Baldur’s Gate 3 lets friends tackle its enormous RPG campaign together. Split the party, make terrible decisions independently, or somehow keep everybody moving in the same direction.

3. Helldivers 2

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: Squad shooters

Helldivers 2 mixes teamwork, huge firefights and friendly fire in a way that can turn a good plan into disaster in seconds. Our earlier coverage includes the Machinery of Oppression update and the fight for Cyberstan.

4. It Takes Two

Players: 2 | Best for: Couch or online co-op

It Takes Two is still one of the easiest two-player recommendations around. Each character gets different abilities, and the game constantly finds new ways to make both players work together.

5. Borderlands 4

Players: Up to 4 online | Best for: Loot shooters

Borderlands 4 gives four players a full campaign packed with guns, loot and character builds. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S also support two-player local split-screen.

6. Grounded 2

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: Survival

Grounded 2 turns an ordinary park into a huge survival playground when you are the size of an insect. Building, gathering and fighting are made for co-op, and PS5 players joined the cross-platform community in August 2026.

7. PEAK

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: Chaotic climbing

PEAK has a simple goal: climb the mountain together. Physics, stamina and your friends make that much harder than it sounds. Our PEAK review found it especially good in short, chaotic sessions.

8. R.E.P.O.

Players: Up to 6 | Best for: Co-op horror

R.E.P.O. combines horror with physics as up to six players try to recover valuable objects without getting killed. If horror is more your thing, we also picked 20 horrific games worth playing in 2026.

9. Deep Rock Galactic

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: Team-based FPS action

Deep Rock Galactic remains one of the best class-based co-op shooters around. Four very different dwarves head underground to mine resources, fight aliens and hopefully make it back alive.

10. Monster Hunter Wilds

Players: Up to 4 | Best for: Monster hunting

Monster Hunter Wilds gives a four-player hunting party some enormous problems to solve. Different weapons encourage different approaches, and bringing down a difficult monster together is still immensely satisfying.

11. Remnant II

Players: Up to 3 | Best for: Challenging co-op

Remnant II mixes third-person shooting, RPG builds and difficult bosses. Bringing friends helps, but the game still expects the group to learn its fights.

12. Sea of Thieves

Players: Crews of up to 4 | Best for: Pirate adventures

Sea of Thieves makes sailing, fighting and keeping the ship above water a team job. It is also our number one pick in our pirate games worth playing in 2026.

13. Valheim

Players: Up to 10 | Best for: Larger survival groups

Valheim is ideal for a group that wants one world to keep returning to. Build, sail, gather resources and hunt bosses together. Version 1.0 arrives on September 9, 2026, alongside PS5 and Switch 2 versions and full crossplay.

14. PowerWash Simulator 2

Players: Up to 4 online / 2 split-screen | Best for: Relaxed co-op

PowerWash Simulator 2 is the opposite of the shooters above. Clean together, talk, and slowly turn an absolute mess into something satisfying.

15. Minecraft

Players: Varies by setup | Best for: Sandbox freedom

Minecraft is predictable on a list like this, but it still earns the spot. Build, survive, explore or create a shared world that can keep a group busy for months. Bedrock Edition is especially useful for friends playing across different devices.

Which co-op game should you play?

For two players, start with Split Fiction or It Takes Two. For chaos, try PEAK, R.E.P.O. or Helldivers 2. Survival groups have Grounded 2, Valheim and Minecraft, while PowerWash Simulator 2 is the easy choice for a relaxed night.
