About This Game
Hamster Playground is not only about nurturing your hamsters. The game is built around training them for different activities and competitions, from mazes to skateboarding, with enough progression to keep the simple controls from feeling completely passive.
Gameplay
You manage the daily lives of your hamsters, earn rewards and treats, improve their abilities, and use the results to unlock more options. The one-button gameplay is straightforward, but timing still matters in the competition modes.
Customization and Expansion
You can name and dress your hamsters in more than 100 cosmetic items and improve their living space over time. I named my first and favorite hamster Souphead, which made the whole thing much more personal than I expected.

Graphics and Sound
The detailed graphics, cute animations, and lighthearted sound effects fit the game well. The presentation is deliberately playful and makes the hamsters easy to get attached to.
Multiplayer and Competitions
Hamster Playground includes local and online competition modes, letting players race against AI-driven hamsters or other players.
DLCs and Pricing at the Time
In July 2024, the game had multiple optional DLC packs, including themed cosmetic packs and additional competition modes.
Final Thoughts
Score: 8/10. Hamster Playground works because it gives players something small and silly to care about while still providing enough competition and progression to keep the activities moving.
It is cute, easy to understand, and surprisingly good at making one hamster feel more important than the others. In my case, that was Souphead.
