Three test subjects scream in terror wearing night-vision gear the outlast trial key art

Welcome to the Outlast Trials Prime Time Double the Danger in Its Deadliest Event Yet

Posted on May 29, 2024June 11, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

A New Level of Fear: PRIME TIME Begins

From one of the horror genre’s most influential developers, Red Barrels, comes the deadliest in-game event yet for The Outlast Trials — PRIME TIME. In this chilling new update, players will face not one, but two of Outlast’s most terrifying enemies at once: Mother Gooseberry and Sergeant Coyle. These sadistic foes pursue players through intense escape-room-like Trials designed for 4-player co-op horror.

Keep a sharp eye on environmental clues during PRIME TIME — they may foreshadow future Trials content. The Outlast Trials is available now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The event runs from May 28th to June 18th.

What’s New in This Update?

The Outlast Trials is the third entry in the franchise and takes cooperative horror to a new level. Set in 1959 during the Cold War, you play as unwilling test subjects in sinister psychological experiments orchestrated by the Murkoff Corporation. The gameplay emphasizes teamwork, stealth, and psychological endurance as players try to survive the Trials, upgrade therapies, and uncover the dark secrets buried in the facility.

Trial Highlights:

  • Survive alongside friends in 4-player online co-op
  • Escape room-style Trials with escalating psychological and physical threats
  • Upgrade character “therapies” and unlock tools to manipulate environments
  • Grim 1950s Cold War setting inspired by real-world mind control research
  • New dual-antagonist structure in PRIME TIME event: Mother Gooseberry and Sergeant Coyle

Meet Red Barrels: Masters of Indie Horror
