Holdfast Nations At War console launch

Holdfast: Nations At War Gets American Revolution Expansion This June

Posted on May 6, 2026May 6, 2026 By Aidan Minter

Anvil Game Studios is taking Holdfast back to the American Revolution with a free expansion arriving on June 11

Holdfast: American Revolution, the next major content expansion for Holdfast: Nations At War, will release on June 11, 2026 as a free update from Anvil Game Studios.

Holdfast American Revolution battlefield scene with artillery, soldiers, explosions, and a fortified position under attack.

Holdfast: American Revolution brings large-scale musket-era battles, artillery fire, and chaotic historical multiplayer warfare to Holdfast: Nations At War.

Arriving during the 250th anniversary year of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, the expansion introduces the American War of Independence into Holdfast’s already chaotic mix of historical multiplayer warfare. For a game that has built so much of its identity around regimented discipline, battlefield comedy, proximity voice chat, and social roleplay, this feels like a natural next step.

Holdfast has always stood apart from the usual multiplayer shooter crowd because it is not only about landing the cleanest shot. It is about the line battles, the shouted orders, the strange moments that happen when players fully commit to the roleplay, and the kind of community-driven battlefield chaos that makes people stick around for more than just the mechanics.

This new expansion follows the recent Holdfast: Age Of Sail update, another free major expansion that pushed the game further into naval warfare. That update introduced seafaring combat, ship boarding, crowded deck battles, seven different vessels including the 8-Gun Corvette and 17-Gun Brig Sloop, and 15 entirely new maps.

Holdfast: Age of Sail expanded the game’s battlefield to naval warfare, ship boarding, cannon fire, and chaotic deck battles.

A Bigger Historical Battlefield

Holdfast: American Revolution brings one of the most important turning points in American history into the game’s musket-era warfare. That means more organised line battles, more chaotic charges, more smoke-filled exchanges, and more of the strange, often hilarious battlefield moments that have helped Holdfast build such a dedicated player base.

Perhaps the most engaging part of Holdfast: Nations At War is how it spreads its historical appeal across different eras rather than locking itself into one theatre of war. The game now covers Napoleonic battles, World War I, the golden age of sail, and soon, the American Revolution.

Across its 27 classes, players can take on different battlefield roles, from officers and infantry to artillery, cavalry, naval crews, support roles, and more. Add in unlockable cosmetic items, customisable soldiers, equipment, gestures, and progression, and Holdfast has become a multiplayer shooter where the social layer is almost as important as the shooting itself.
