The Cursed West Heads to PlayStation 5

Published by indie.io, Hauntsville places players in a cursed version of the American frontier, where ghost towns, harsh wilderness, survival crafting, and creatures inspired by North American folklore shape the fight to stay alive.

Build, Survive, and Face the Things Beyond the Campfire

In Hauntsville, players begin with almost nothing and must carve out a life in a hostile frontier. That means gathering supplies, building a homestead, hunting for food, crafting weapons, and deciding when it is worth heading into the haunted town for better resources.

The game can be played alone, but the PlayStation 5 version also supports online co-op for up to four players, giving groups the chance to face the Cursed West together. The survival loop mixes base-building, exploration, weather systems, day-and-night danger, and supernatural enemies drawn from folklore.

A Different Kind of Frontier Survival Game

The Western horror angle gives Hauntsville a strong identity in a crowded survival genre. Instead of another forest or post-apocalyptic setup, this one leans into ghost towns, frontier isolation, old weapons, strange symbols, and the feeling that something is always waiting just outside the light.

Hauntsville blends frontier survival, open-world exploration, and supernatural danger across its haunted Western setting.

For players who enjoy survival games with a heavier atmosphere, the PlayStation 5 release could be worth watching. Hauntsville is available now on Steam and launches for PlayStation 5 on May 13, 2026.
