Challenge the Darkness “Runeborn Demo” Awaits You

Posted on February 8, 2025May 2, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

iDream Interactive invites players to step into the shadowy realms of their upcoming title, Runeborn, with the release of a brand-new demo. This dark fantasy roguelike fuses deckbuilding mechanics with an imaginative rune-casting system that sets it apart from traditional card-based games.

A Unique Spin on Spellcasting

In Runeborn, your arsenal isn’t just cards—it’s an evolving runebook. Instead of playing cards from a hand, spells are cast by spinning rune columns—a mechanic that mimics the feel of a slot machine. Each spin is strategic: up to 8 runes can be locked in place to give you greater control over the outcome, allowing thoughtful players to manipulate results in their favor.

Customization at the Core

The demo introduces robust customization options. Players can add, remove, or alter runes in their columns to suit different strategies. Enhancing runes with amulets and auras unlocks even more dynamic effects, expanding both offensive and defensive possibilities in battle.

Over 150 Trinkets for Endless Synergy

Runeborn boasts a deep loot and progression system, featuring over 150 trinkets. These items drastically alter gameplay by triggering additional rune effects, boosting damage, or introducing new combo opportunities. With every run, players can explore new combinations and strategies, ensuring no two sessions are alike.

Strategic Encounters and Tactical Shops

Every journey begins with a choice—players select enemies with unique traits, determining the course and difficulty of their run. Coins earned from battles can be spent in various shops, each offering distinct upgrades. From combat boosts to rune modifications, these shops support a wide range of tactical builds.

Challenging Elites and Replay Value

The demo doesn’t shy away from intensity. Encounters with elite enemies and powerful bosses serve as milestones that test the efficiency of your build and your ability to adapt. These encounters hint at deeper layers of challenge in the full release.
