The Lacerator a Grindhouse Inspired Survival Horror Coming in 2025

Posted on August 20, 2024March 4, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Classic survival horror meets brutal limb-loss mechanics

Get ready to watch your back or risk getting LACERATED—in DreadXP’s latest survival horror title,
The Lacerator is set to launch in 2025. This upcoming game promises a unique blend of classic survival horror mechanics and the gritty, low-brow style of 70s and 80s Grindhouse films.

Gameplay Overview

Developed by Brazilian studio Games From The Abyss, The Lacerator introduces a dark, twisted gameplay experience where losing a limb can change everything. Players will face not only puzzles but
also the gruesome challenge of surviving bodily amputations as they navigate a labyrinthine environment filled with enemies and traps.

The game’s retro-inspired low-poly visuals and tank controls evoke the golden era of horror games, paying homage to genre classics while delivering a fresh, terrifying experience.

Story—Trapped With The Lacerator

In The Lacerator, you’ll step into the shoes of Max, a renowned porn actor who, during a routine shoot, finds himself and his crew captured by the sadistic killer known as The Lacerator. Trapped in a filthy hideout, Max must find a way to escape alive, but it won’t be easy.

The Lacerator’s many traps can sever limbs in real time, drastically altering the gameplay and forcing players to adapt their strategy on the fly.

Limb-Loss, Exploration, and Multiple Outcomes

Exploration is key to survival, with multiple branching paths and narrative outcomes depending on the player’s choices and remaining limbs. The more you explore, the more of the twisted story you’ll uncover—but you’ll need to be smart about managing resources, solving puzzles, and fighting back against your captors.

Part of DreadXP’s Growing Horror Lineup

DreadXP continues to build its impressive lineup of horror titles, with The Lacerator joining other upcoming games like Amanda The Adventurer 2, set to release later in 2024, and the much-anticipated Heartworm in 2025. The Lacerator’s demo is currently available on Steam, and fans can get an early taste of the terror at PAX West 2024, where DreadXP will be showcasing the game as part of their lineup.

The Lacerator is slated for a 2025 release on PC. Are you ready to face the terror? Try the demo on
Steam and see if you can survive The Lacerator’s twisted world.
