Xdefiant Preseason Launches May 21 Your Complete Guide

Ubisoft’s Free-to-Play Shooter Begins Its Assault

XDefiant is set to unleash its free-to-play arcade shooter action with the preseason launch on May 21, 2024 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. Dive into fast-paced combat across 14 maps, with 5 unique game modes, 24 weapons, and 44 attachments. Choose from 5 factions inspired by Ubisoft franchises, each offering unique buffs and tactical abilities.

 Factions and Unique Abilities

In XDefiant, you can choose your faction and loadout before a match or switch mid-game. Each faction brings unique abilities to the fight:

Libertad (Far Cry Series)

  • Active Ability: BioVida healing device
  • Passive Buff: Faster health regeneration
  • Ultra Ability: Medical Rush (team-wide heal)

Cleaners (The Division)

  • Active Ability: Fire-based attacks
  • Passive Buff: Increased damage output
  • Ultra Ability: Firestorm (area fire damage)

Echelon (Splinter Cell)

  • Active Ability: Stealth tech to become invisible & reveal enemies
  • Passive Buff: Faster crouch movement
  • Ultra Ability: Sonar Goggles (track enemies in real-time)

Phantoms (Ghost Recon)

  • Active Ability: Deploy energy shields
  • Passive Buff: Reduced explosive damage
  • Ultra Ability: Blitz Shield for pushing through frontlines

DedSec (Watch Dogs)

  • Active Ability: Hack gadgets, deploy spiderbots
  • Passive Buff: Faster hack speed
  • Ultra Ability: Lockout (disables enemy abilities)

Note: DedSec and two other factions are locked at launch and can be unlocked by completing missions.

Loadouts and Weapon Customization

Choose a primary and secondary weapon, grenade type, and fine-tune your setup with unlockable attachments as you earn XP. Weapons are grouped into familiar FPS categories:

  • Weapon Types: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Shotguns, Marksman Rifles, Snipers
  • Attachments: Sights, grips, barrels, stocks, muzzles, magazines

The more you play, the more customization options you unlock—tailor your build to your playstyle.
