A sharp and unusual indie strategy project has reached its final stop
Pizza Club Games has announced that it is shutting down, and with that, development on DOOMTRAIN has officially come to an end. The news lands just after a busy Steam Next Fest period, which makes this one feel especially rough for a game that had only recently started building momentum.
DOOMTRAIN stood out with a strong hook: a city-building and train-based defense game set in a corporate version of Hell, where players were meant to build a medieval steampunk town, upgrade the DOOMTRAIN, and unionize demon workers against DemonCorp. The demo launched on February 19, 2026, and at the time of writing it still shows 25 user reviews on Steam, with 84% marked positive, while the full game page continues to list a planned 2026 release window.

What makes this sting a little more is how distinct the project felt. Even Pizza Club Games’ own press kit described DOOMTRAIN as the studio’s “last and final shout of defiance,” and now that line carries a much heavier meaning than intended. For players who had this one on their radar, the ride ends here.
