Brass Rain: WWII Gameplay, Release, Multiplayer and What to Know

Brass Rain is Yarnhub’s fan-funded WWII shooter built around infantry, tanks and co-op combat

Brass Rain is a free-to-play World War II shooter from Yarnhub Animation Studios, combining historically inspired battles with multiplayer infantry and tank combat.

When we first covered Brass Rain in November 2025, Yarnhub had just revealed its first major gameplay trailer. The project has moved forward since then, and Steam now lists a planned release for December 2026.

Developed and published by Yarnhub Animation Studios, the game is built around authentic World War II weapons, locations and battles without trying to become a hardcore military simulator. The focus is on accessible combined-arms action, teamwork and historically inspired scenarios. What is Brass Rain?

Brass Rain is a combined-arms World War II shooter inspired by real battles and military stories. Yarnhub says the game uses authentic weapons, locations and scenarios while keeping the combat fast enough to remain approachable.

The current focus is on infantry and tanks. Battles are designed around trenches, interiors, open ground, flanking routes and different objectives rather than simply recreating historical locations as static maps.

Two of the highlighted battlefields are Pointe du Hoc in Normandy and Castle Itter in Austria. Yarnhub also plans to expand the game with more vehicles later, including aircraft and naval combat.

When is Brass Rain coming out?

Brass Rain is currently planned for December 2026 on Steam. The game remains unreleased, so the date should still be treated as Yarnhub’s current launch target rather than something guaranteed.

Is Brass Rain free to play?

Yes. Steam currently lists Brass Rain as free-to-play, with in-game purchases and online interaction also noted on the store page.

That gives Yarnhub a different challenge from a traditional paid WWII shooter. The game needs enough players to keep multiplayer healthy while making sure its progression and monetisation do not get in the way of the battlefield experience.

Does Brass Rain have multiplayer and co-op?

Yes. Steam lists both online PvP and online co-op.

One of the more interesting modes is Yarnhub’s asymmetrical Operation Mode, where attackers and defenders have different objectives. At Pointe du Hoc, for example, one side searches for hidden artillery while the defending team tries to stop them.

That focus on positioning and teamwork should appeal to players who prefer larger, more tactical WWII battles over simple run-and-gun matches.

What about the Brass Rain demo?

A separate Brass Rain Demo has its own Steam page and is currently listed for 2026, but it is not yet available to download.

The demo is planned around 8v8 multiplayer at Pointe du Hoc and Castle Itter. Pointe du Hoc uses the more objective-driven Operation Mode, while Castle Itter features a faster Team Deathmatch-style arcade mode.

Brass Rain was funded by Yarnhub’s own community

One thing that makes Brass Rain different is how it got here. Yarnhub raised around $2.9 million from more than 5,000 investors through an equity crowdfunding campaign.

The studio already had a large audience from its military-history YouTube work, and that community helped fund its move into game development. It gives Brass Rain a built-in audience before launch, although the game still has to prove itself once players get their hands on it.

Is Brass Rain coming to PS5 or Xbox?

Right now, PC via Steam is the confirmed platform. There is no confirmed PS5 or Xbox release on the current official listings, so console players will need to wait for Yarnhub to announce anything further.

Brass Rain remains one to watch

Brass Rain still has plenty to prove. Multiplayer shooters live or die on their gunplay, networking, maps, progression and player population, not just how good the trailer looks.

Still, Yarnhub has a clear idea of what it wants to build: historically inspired World War II battles, infantry and tank combat, co-op teamwork and a free-to-play structure backed by an existing community.

For anyone missing the ping of an M1 Garand and looking for another multiplayer WWII battlefield, December 2026 is worth keeping an eye on.
