DDS 2: Casino DLC Review
By Daniel Sarach (Reviewed on PC)
Rolling the Dice on Expansion Content
A year after Drug Dealer Simulator 2’s release, Byterunners delivered its first paid expansion: the Casino DLC. On paper, it sounds like a dream fit. DDS2’s core loop thrives on high-risk, high-reward hustling, so adding an offshore casino where you can gamble, hustle, and eventually own the joint feels like a natural evolution. But while the concept is gold, the execution feels more like fool’s gold—glittery at first glance, but shallow once you’ve played through it.

What’s Inside the Casino
To access the content, players fight through a small questline to obtain a golden ticket, granting entry to an oil rig casino located off Isla Sombra. From there, the DLC splits into two paths:
- Pure Gambling — Hit the tables immediately and play from a selection of five casino games.
- The Ownership Route — A multi-step questline where you topple the current boss, renovate the property, and rebrand it as “The Wallet Drainer Casino.”
The ownership path sounds great, but it’s a slog. You’ll need to fork over a staggering $4 million in-game cash just to get started, and then grind through a series of errands: talking to NPCs scattered across the island, delivering items (including drugs to nervous workers), and crafting a bomb to overthrow the previous owner. Finish it all, and yes—you’ll earn passive income as a casino mogul, with the option to cosmetically “upgrade” your slot machines, roulette, and card tables.
The Highs
- Variety of Games: Five different gambling options, from slots to roulette, offer a change of pace from the usual drug-dealing grind.
- Golden Chips: Wins reward you with a unique currency you can spend on exclusive decorations and items.
- Owning the Casino: There’s a certain satisfaction in running your own illicit gambling den, and the passive income system feels rewarding—at least at first.
The Lows
- Shallow Questline: Missions lack depth and flair. The supposed climax—planting a bomb to take out the rival owner—lands with a thud thanks to the absence of cutscenes or cinematic buildup.
- Repetitive Machines: All 50 slot machines are identical, and “upgrades” are just reskins. No bonus rounds, no unique mechanics—just the same three-symbol pull, over and over.
- Barebones Animations: Dealers don’t toss roulette balls, shuffle cards, or even pretend to host the games. The lack of polish makes the casino feel more like a placeholder than a living environment.
- Price Point: At $8 on top of the $25 base game, the DLC doesn’t offer enough fresh content to justify the cost.
Verdict
The Casino DLC for Drug Dealer Simulator 2 is a gamble that doesn’t quite pay off. The idea of expanding the game into the world of high-stakes gambling is strong, but the shallow quest design, repetitive mini-games, and lack of polish keep it from feeling like more than a novelty.
If you’re a die-hard DDS2 fan looking for new ways to spend your empire’s fortune, you might get a few hours of fun out of the tables. But for most players, this casino feels less like a jackpot and more like a money pit.
Score: 6/10 — A flashy idea that lacks substance.
