Evil Moon: Unspoken Demo Arrives for Steam Next Fest on October 19

Posted on October 7, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Neckbolt’s First-Person Metroidvania Opens the Gates to Abbadox

Evil Moon: Unspoken will receive a playable demo on October 19 for Steam Next Fest, developer Neckbolt and publisher Burning Planet Digital announced in an October 7 press release.

The first-person Metroidvania casts players as Siléncia, a silent nun taking up arms in the cursed city of Abbadox. The Malediction of the Moon strikes down anyone who speaks aloud, leaving sisters bound by vows of silence among those able to move freely through its streets.

The publisher’s approach to indie releases also came up in our interview with Karl “Rockfist” Rosqvist, which covered Alruna: End of History, game music, and treating an indie game like a band.

From Alruna to a First-Person Metroidvania

Swedish solo developer Niklas Hallin, creator of the Alruna series, is bringing his approach to exploration and level design into first-person 3D. In the announcement, Hallin describes retro shooter graphics as a way to attempt a game inspired by Metroid Prime at an indie scale.

Evil Moon: Unspoken features a target-locking system and unlimited ammunition, keeping the focus on combat and exploration rather than conserving bullets. New weapons, off-hand items, and abilities are intended to open paths through the city’s interconnected spaces.

What the October 19 Demo Includes

The demo will include the game’s first area, the blaster pistol, a rosary-bead grappling hook, and the first boss fight in the cemetery.

The October demo will offer an early look at the game ahead of its planned 2027 release. A specific full-game release date has not been announced on Steam.
