Göteborg, Sweden – May 7, 2025 – In ALRUNA and the NECRO-INDUSTRIALISTS, players take control of Alruna, a forest nymph navigating a decaying world overtaken by industrial corruption. With fast-paced platforming and dense pixel environments, the game blends mood, mechanics, and message in equal measure.

Developer Niklas Hallin describes it as “an angry game.” The game’s script references Rage Against the Machine and incorporates political themes throughout its dialogue. “Sleep now in the fire. Preach now to the choir,” one character says before a boss fight. According to Hallin, “You’ve already lived this. This game just puts it into pixels.”

But despite its fury, the message isn’t about despair. “Nothing here is about apathy or hopelessness. The struggle is the point. Victory is a luxury. We respond to doom-and-gloom by becoming even more unhinged, ungovernable, and enraged.”

ALRUNA and NECRO-INDUSTRIALISTS are now available on Switch and Steam, showcasing their distinctive design, thought-provoking themes, and distinctive pixel art.
