Lies of P: Overture Has Arrived — A Surprise Return to Krat’s Dark Origins

Posted on June 7, 2025January 23, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

NEOWIZ just shadow-dropped a full-blown DLC prequel for one of the most stylish Soulslikes of this era. Welcome back to Krat—before it all fell apart.

Did anyone see this coming? Lies of P: Overture dropped out of nowhere today (June 6, 2025), blindsiding fans and shaking up the Soulslike world in classic NEOWIZ fashion. Announced on the big stage at Summer Game Fest, this surprise DLC lets us step back into the haunting city of Krat—this time before all hell broke loose.

A Glimpse Into Krat’s Past

It’s not just more Lies of P. Overture puts you right in the shoes of Geppetto’s puppet again, led by the mysterious Legendary Stalker. Krat feels alive and beautiful in that Belle Époque style, but the sense of something truly sinister is everywhere. From the nightmarish Carnival Gardens to a desolate frozen shipyard, every environment hits differently—and so do the enemies. Expect infected apes, zombie dogs, and even a monstrous crocodile boss waiting to ruin your day.

New Tools for Survival

This isn’t just recycled content. The expansion brings new Legion Arms—one fires spinning saws, another is a literal shotgun strapped to your puppet. It completely shakes up combat and lets you experiment with some of the wildest combos yet. Whether you’re in it for the challenge or just want to try every weapon mod, there’s a lot to dig into here.

Lies of P: Overture

Release Date: June 6, 2025

Genre: Action RPG, Soulslike

Developer/Publisher:
NEOWIZ / ROUND8 Studio

Platforms: PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One / Series X|S, Steam (PC)

Accessibility and Challenges

The DLC drops alongside a hefty free update. Two new difficulty settings—”Butterfly’s Guidance” and “Awakened Puppet”—make the game friendlier for newcomers. For hardcore fans, “Death March” mode is basically a boss rush from hell, and “Battle Memories” lets you relive your favorite (or least favorite) boss fights with fresh rules. Whatever your skill level, there’s something in this update for you.

How to Access Overture

Jumping in isn’t complicated: finish Chapter 9 in the base game, and a new item—Star’s Chrysalis—appears in your inventory. That’s your ticket to the Path of the Pilgrim and the start of your Overture journey. No need to replay the entire campaign, just pick up where you left off and get into the new content.

Final Thoughts

Lies of P: Overture is out now for $29.99 on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. Whether you’re a seasoned Soulslike veteran or just puppet-curious, now’s the time to head back to Krat and unravel the secrets hiding in its darkest corners. This is how you launch a DLC—no teasers, no delays, just pure, stylish chaos dropped right in our laps. See you in the streets of Krat.
