A candid update on independent gaming journalism, Fix Gaming Channel’s community growth, and the future of indie gaming coverage.
Independent gaming journalism is at the heart of everything we do at Fix Gaming Channel. A little while back, I wrote about what it really takes to run an indie gaming outlet today. That article was about the grind—the endless hours, the uncertainty, and the honesty it takes just to keep moving. But there’s more to this story, and if you’re reading this, you’re part of it.
The Real Reason We Do This
Let’s be straight: We do this out of pure passion for games, not for a paycheck. Our goal at Fix Gaming Channel is simple—help gamers discover incredible titles, stay up to date on game launches, and actually see what games look and feel like through real gameplay videos and honest reviews. But just as important, we want to give every talented developer, especially indies, a genuine chance to showcase their work. This isn’t a business move. It’s about the love of games and the people who make them.

The Honest Truth: It’s Tough
The truth? We don’t earn anything from this. Maybe one day, maybe never. Who knows what the future brings, especially in a world shifting more and more toward AI and algorithms? All I know is, independent gaming journalism is hard work. Personally, I commit all day, seven days a week, to this project. I run the website, handle all the social media, read every email, and try to keep up with a flood of new games and requests. Some days are brutally hard. Sometimes it’s just, “Man, I need to sleep now… but there’s more to do.” Sure, I have a life outside of this, but balancing it all, without any financial return, takes its toll. I honestly don’t know how long I can keep this up at the current pace, but as long as people see value in our work, I’ll keep going.
Why Independent Gaming Journalism Still Matters
What matters most is connection—human, genuine, and real. That’s why every bit of support, every email from a developer, every review key, and every kind word from our community matters more than you might think. I firmly believe we need that sense of community now more than ever before.

This journey isn’t something I do alone. Daniel and Robelle, you put in the hours that most people never see. Aidan, your encouragement and ideas matter more than you know.
