Pivot of Hearts at Steam Visual Novel Fest

Posted on March 6, 2025June 24, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

In an exciting announcement for fans of narrative-driven games, Dragonroll Studio is spotlighting their upcoming visual novel, Pivot of Hearts, during Steam’s Visual Novel Fest from March 3rd to 10th. With roots in the vibrant streets of São Paulo, this visual novel invites players into a rich emotional journey unlike anything else on the festival lineup.

Innovative Gameplay and a Deeply Personal Story

Players take on the role of Wén Xiàn, a Taiwanese-Brazilian game developer returning to social life after a long period of isolation. Through meaningful interactions with characters from their past and new connections, the game explores themes of non-monogamy, cultural identity, and emotional growth.

Split across four chapters with five different endings, the narrative boasts more than 100,000 words and offers highly replayable story branches driven by your choices.

Celebrating Brazilian Identity in Gaming

Beyond romance, Pivot of Hearts highlights the richness of Brazilian traditions. According to Lívia Santos, Art Director at Dragonroll Studio, the game channels the spirit of local festivities such as Festa Junina to give players an authentic cultural experience often missing from global visual novels.

Tarot-Inspired Mechanics for Meaningful Choices

One of the game’s standout mechanics is its tarot-inspired interaction system. This design choice not only deepens the narrative but also enhances player expression and identity representation, staying true to the studio’s inclusive philosophy.

Critical Recognition and Festival Nominations

Pivot of Hearts has already received accolades and attention prior to full release:

  • Winner: Best Narrative at SBGames 2022
  • Nominated: Diversity Award at BIG Festival, Gamescom Latam 2024

These honors reflect Dragonroll Studio’s talent for weaving social themes into heartfelt interactive stories.

Demo Now Available with Upgraded Assets

A newly updated demo is now live on Steam, featuring:

  • Improved UI and animations
  • Enhanced sound design
  • Smoother scene transitions

This demo gives players a strong preview of the emotional depth and production quality they can expect in the full release.
