Digital Preorders Get an Early Start in Hajin
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 opens DMZ Early Access today, October 20, 2026, for players who digitally preorder the Standard or Vault Edition. That gives them a chance to enter the extraction mode three days before the full game launches on October 23.
Activision confirms the date on the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — DMZ page, which describes the mode as an action extraction shooter built around looting, objectives, rival operators, and extraction under pressure.

What DMZ is in Modern Warfare 4
The new DMZ is built around extraction-shooter fundamentals. Players deploy into a hostile zone alone or with a squad, complete objectives, collect equipment and resources, fight enemy forces and rival operators, and decide when to extract.
The official DMZ page says players will operate in Hajin, where deployments can include story missions, changing threats, and opportunities to push deeper into the map for better rewards at greater risk.
Campaign Early Access is already live
Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access began on October 16 for eligible digital preorders. In the official “Modern Warfare 4: Campaign Early Access Now Live” announcement, Activision says the full campaign is available ahead of launch and that progress rewards will carry into Multiplayer and DMZ.
Campaign Early Access is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Steam store page also lists Campaign Early Access beginning October 16 and DMZ Early Access beginning October 20.
DMZ arrives just before the full launch
The October 20 DMZ access window gives players a short head start before Modern Warfare 4 launches in full on October 23.
That makes the next few days unusually packed for Call of Duty players: campaign access is already live, DMZ opens on October 20, and Multiplayer joins the full release three days later.
