Fix Gaming Channel’s Game of the Week #4: Labyrinth of the Demon King

Game of the Week #4: Labyrinth of the Demon King

Posted on May 20, 2025May 26, 2025 By Ronny Fiksdahl

No help, no hope—just your blade and what’s left of your will

A brutal, atmospheric dungeon crawler set in a demon-infested feudal Japan, crafted by a solo developer with a clear vision.

Some games don’t just challenge your skills—they challenge your resolve. Labyrinth of the Demon King throws you into a world already falling apart. You’re the last of your clan. Your lord is dead. You’ve got nothing but a broken blade and a promise for revenge. This isn’t about flashy moves or saving the world—it’s about survival. And it doesn’t care how good you think you are.

Why This Game Deserves the Spotlight

Survival Runs Deep
You play as an ashigaru with no army, no lord, and no backup. The country’s in flames, and demons rule the land. Your only goal? Find the one that betrayed your clan and take it down. The game’s not here to explain itself—it expects you to fight your way through, or die trying.

Combat That Doesn’t Babysit
Swords, bows, muskets—you don’t get much, but what you do get hits hard. Every swing counts. Enemies are fast, weird, and mean. One mistake and you’re done. The combat is unforgiving in all the right ways. It’s not about style. It’s about staying alive.

Every Step Matters
You won’t find a map, a quest marker, or glowing breadcrumbs here. You walk into the dark and figure it out as you go. Find scraps, armor, talismans, clues, and hope they’re enough to keep you alive. Miss something? That’s on you. And that’s how it should be.

Looks Rough, Feels Right
Don’t let the PS1 visuals fool you. That gritty, dithered look works. It adds to the mood, not nostalgia. It makes the world feel old, broken, and cursed, which fits the tone perfectly.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t a game trying to be liked. It’s trying to be honest. Labyrinth of the Demon King is raw, focused, and made by someone who clearly knows what makes dungeon crawlers worth playing. It doesn’t care about modern trends or surface polish—it just wants to put you through hell and see if you come out the other side. And that’s exactly why it’s this week’s pick.
