After 50+ hours of play, articles, and countless gameplay videos, VOID Interactive brushes off press — just as Steam explodes with backlash. Is Ready or Not still the game we backed?
I’ve supported Ready or Not since before its full release — through articles, videos, and over 50 hours of play. So when I reached out to VOID Interactive for a PS5 review key — as a gaming outlet, not a streamer — the reply wasn’t just a no. It was a cold redirect to Lurkit, like I was nobody.
No thank you. No acknowledgment. Just “go there.”
That hit different. And when I checked Steam… yeah, I wasn’t the only one feeling that shift.
A Steam Meltdown: 12,000+ Players Speak Out
As of now, Ready or Not has received over 12,265 recent reviews marked as “Mostly Negative” — a dramatic shift for a game that still holds a “Very Positive” rating across 197,386 total reviews.

This backlash erupted after VOID Interactive confirmed that all versions of the game — including PC — would be updated to meet console certification requirements. That meant removing or toning down disturbing or graphic content. Crucially, there is no way for PC players to revert to the original build.
The Steam community didn’t hold back:
“Don’t buy this game. Do not support a company like VOID Interactive.”
“This game sacrifices the best part of its experience: the immersion.”
“The game is not what we paid for anymore.”
“VOID made their money from you — the PC players — and now they’re censoring to meet console demands.”

Is This Still an Indie Game?
VOID still wears the “indie” label, but how indie can a studio be when it’s chasing console revenue, reshaping its content for ratings boards, and brushing off legitimate game media like it’s a nuisance?
They’re likely making millions per month at this point. That’s not a tiny studio. That’s a growing machine — and from the outside, it looks like the people calling the shots are no longer the same voices that made Ready or Not special in the first place.
Still calling this indie? It’s independent, yeah — but this isn’t a small studio struggling to make it. This is a company managing a full-price shooter with console launches and cross-platform certification. Let’s stop pretending otherwise.
No More Hype — Not Like This
Let me be clear: I’m not mad they didn’t give me a key. I’m disappointed they didn’t even see me.
I’ve covered this game from the early days. Promoted it when few others did. But now? I won’t be writing more hype for Ready or Not — not unless VOID finds its backbone again. The game has changed. The tone has changed. And it no longer respects the same people who helped build its early momentum.
