Tears of Adria Finally Gets a Launch Trailer Nearly Three Years After Release

Posted on July 16, 2026July 16, 2026 By Ronny Fiksdahl

Better Late Than Never for Tears of Adria

Ark Island Studio has released a launch trailer for its strategy RPG more than two and a half years after the game arrived on Steam.

In a move that proves it is better late than never, the two-person development team at Ark Island Studio has finally released the launch trailer for Tears of Adria.

Yes, you read that correctly. The strategy RPG with autobattles was released on Steam back in November 2023. Its launch trailer has now arrived nearly three years later.

Waiting for Players to Find the Game Did Not Work

It is not often that a development team is this open and self-deprecating about its marketing failures.

Ark Island Studio made the game, released it, and waited for players to find it. That clearly did not work as planned, and the studio is not trying to pretend otherwise.

“We made a game, released it on Steam, and waited for the public to discover it through instinct, divine intervention, or some minor clerical error in the algorithm. This did not happen. Games, despite their many qualities, do not market themselves.

So we made a trailer. Not really to explain the game. But to disturb silence properly.”

— Jakob Köster, co-founder of Ark Island Studio

There is something refreshing about that level of honesty. Instead of acting like the trailer was always part of a carefully planned campaign, the studio admits that it should have done more to introduce the game when it was released.

A Major Overhaul Arrived Earlier This Year

The launch trailer is not the only reason to take another look at Tears of Adria.

A major update released in March 2026 gave the game a substantial graphical overhaul. Forests, grasslands, environmental blending, dungeon lighting, and other parts of the world received additional work and polish.

The March update improved forests, grasslands, environmental blending, and other areas of the world.

The update also added a Single Hero Challenge mode, a new post-game challenge, and a Sword in the Stone event where players can obtain a magical sword.

Several story and tutorial elements were improved alongside the user interface, including updated unit icons. The studio also made a number of gameplay changes and worked on improving multiplayer stability.

A Late Introduction to Tears of Adria

Tears of Adria is a real-time strategy RPG with autobattles, party building, exploration, equipment, online co-op, and player-versus-player support.

Players begin with one hero before building a larger party and dealing with dragons, strange artifacts, hidden paths, and a growing collection of problems.

The new trailer serves as a very late introduction to a game built around uncertain choices, unplanned heroes, and the difference between being chosen and proving yourself.

It may be nearly three years late, but at least the game finally has a proper launch trailer.

Now 66% Off on Steam

Tears of Adria is also currently 66% off as part of the Games Made in Sweden sale on Steam.

The discount is available until July 26, 2026, giving players a good opportunity to check out the game following its major update and very delayed launch trailer.
