Game Source Entertainment and developer 7QUARK have officially released the v1.0 demo of their highly anticipated roguelite action-adventure, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade. Now available to download on Steam, the game transports players to a twisted version of the Edo period filled with myth, monsters, and magic-infused combat.

The World of Yasha

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a Japanese-style action RPG that immerses players in a mythical version of Edo Japan overrun by supernatural threats. You’ll play as three different heroes:

  • Shigure – the Immortal Ninja, wielding a deadly demon blade
  • Sara – an Oni Emissary with powerful dual swords
  • Taketora – a Demon Samurai skilled with a traditional bow

Each character follows a path filled with danger, spiritual trials, and the mystery of their pasts as they fight to reclaim a land cursed by yokai.

A Cycle of Death and Revelation

Death is not the end in Yasha. The game’s roguelite design allows players to relive their battles, gaining insights and powers with every cycle, slowly revealing the truth behind the demon infestation.

Demo Features

The v1.0 demo focuses on early-game combat mechanics, giving players a solid taste of the skills and weapon systems available:

  • Master combat with Shigure, Sara, and Taketora
  • Enhance skills using the Soul Orb system
  • Explore the atmospheric beach map styled in ukiyo-e art
  • Challenge formidable bosses like General Kani and the sea-monster Kraken Umibozu

Combat with Style

Each encounter is fast-paced and deadly. Mixing your favorite attacks with Soul Orb enhancements leads to uniquely personalized fighting techniques that evolve over each playthrough.

The Demon Festival Realm

Beyond the battlefield lies the mysterious Demon Festival, a sanctuary where friendly yokai offer assistance and resources. Among them, a rejuvenating bowl of ramen stands out — said to give players otherworldly strength for the trials ahead.

Future Content: What’s Coming in 2025

7QUARK has announced a major update planned for February 2025. This update will:

  • Expand the story with the first half of each character’s journey
  • Introduce new enemies and more elaborate boss battles
  • Unveil deeper lore involving the ultimate antagonist, Kubi, king of the yokai

Character Arcs Intertwined

The fates of Shigure, Sara, and Taketora are connected. The full release promises a dramatic narrative that brings their stories together in a final confrontation with ancient evil.
