Chernobylite 2’s Megapatch 03 Brings the Game Back to Its Survival Horror Roots
The latest update for Chernobylite 2 has arrived, and it’s a big one. Titled Megapatch 03 – Back to the Roots, this update rethinks major gameplay systems and marks a deliberate shift away from the controversial direction the game had taken since launch. Developer The Farm 51 has stripped back a number of mechanics, ditched the forced co-op approach, and re-embraced the gritty, grounded survival style that made the original game a cult hit.
Key Message from the Devs
“We lost sight of what made you love the first Chernobylite… We want to return to that experience, but to do so, we need to take a big step back.” – Artur Fojcik, Game Director
Two months after this statement, Megapatch 03 delivers that step back—and perhaps a step forward, too.
Important Notes Before You Update
- Old saves will work, but it’s highly recommended to start a new game due to major balance changes.
- Co-op missions have been disabled while the developers evaluate future plans for the feature.
